Got License; Cant install

I have a MacBook Pro. Downloaded the Mac file from the download page. It keeps telling me I cant unarchive the file...also went to tech support in manual and it says for Mac I should have downloaded the ootpmacinstall.zip what I have downloaded off the mac mirror site is ootpmacinstall.tar or .tar.gz I'd really like to start playing - especially since I have already paid the 40 bucks for the license Please help me out!

Are you using Leopard? Your Mac should have an appropriate archive utility to handle it. You could try The Unarchiver found here. Sometimes I use this when the default Mac program can't handle a tricky file type. It runs on 10.3.9 and up. Make sure you have .tar checked in the preferences when you launch it and it should work for you.

I open the unarchiver utility and it says this:
"Unable to unarchive the file ootpmacinstall.tar
Error 2: no such file or directory"

I'm not sitting at my mac right now so it's a bit tough, but it sounds like your download didn't go smoothly. Unless you're running on an ancient operating system, your mac should be able to open a .tar file.

I would suggest tossing out the first OOTP file and trying to redownload. Perhaps something got corrupted in the first attempt or it didn't download the entire install file.
