I am a new OOTP user. Just played a few weeks of OOTP10 and made the playoffs and now I get this msg followed by 'The loading of the database failed. It is either corrupt or a save-game from an old version'. HELP!! Is a backup stored somewhere? Don't tell me I lost the whole season

![]() For the future.... I try to back up my games quite often. The easiest way I find is just to copy my whole league folder (from the saved_games folder) to another drive...and also every so often I back it up onto disc. Using this method if any corruption happens I can delete the league file from the saved_games folder, then just copy into it the back-up league. (can take a little while depending on the size of the league...but it is always worth backing up.... and often....) Last edited by SMFXR01; 08-13-2009 at 11:39 AM. |

The same thing happened to me.
I HAD backed up after every game. Then, I turned the game on yesterday and it gave me that message. I tried to use the backup and it also came up with unable to load world file-- so, it appears whatever "corruption" existed in the original was copied to the back-up. Additionally, no matter what league I try-- or create-- another problem arises. Whenever I load a league and try to go to the free agent page, OOTP "stops working" and I have to get out of the game. I went back and deleted the game and re-loaded it, then updated to the latest OOTP version. Still had the same problem. Is there some file after uninstall that I have to delete by hand? Thanks |

While I personally have not run into it in X, in v9 when the world.dat problem occured, or often one like it, rather than selecting Continue- which is the usual option -I would select the Load Game, find my league there, and process from that point. It may be a crapshoot for you, but it has worked for me in the past. You may give it a try and see whether you get the same result.
