Licence Invalid error rears head again
I have a Mac.
Had this problem before - having to relicense frequently. This seemed to stop for the most part with an update patch a couple of months ago. However, I continue to have a couple of issues, and today the issue is a killer. 1) I can only play when I have internet. A couple of weeks ago, I was traveling - my wife was driving - I tried to play, but without internet access available, I was denied. - do I really have to be online capable to play? 2) Whenever I plug or unplug an external monitor to my computer, I have to relicense the software the next time I play. 3) Any time I go to battery power, I have to relicense my software again. Worst of all: Today I'm at school rather than home, I go to play, and I have to relicense again, only THIS time, the signal isn't as strong as it is at home. Consequently, I plug my license into the prompt and the game just hangs in limbo. Can anyone help? The constant relicensing is annoying. Not being able to play when I have about 3 hours to kill is frankly peeing me off. Thx. Edit to add OOTP version #: 10.2.16 Last edited by bigMatt; 08-27-2009 at 02:37 PM. |

I am very sympathetic to your problems, but this is just a sympathetic response, nothing more. I don't have a laptop.
I know that the OOTP folks have adopted a posture about security which is more extreme than what we are used to having on the Mac. One is tempted to say something about that, but discretion intervenes ... So we are going to get the license invalid message more often than we are used to. That said, there still may be problems with how the licensing situation works with computers that are intermittently on the internet. I don't know if this is happening more often with Macs than with PCs. Might be. Stick with it. |

I am not a source of answers about the security system, only another Mac person who has to adapt to them.
But I've gotten some insight into the situation which may not be widely understood. My point was that some of what we are dealing with is intentional on the part of Markus and Andreas. How much of what you are dealing with is the result of this, and how much might be a bug or something like that is hard for me to assess. If I were in your shoes, I would post directly to Andreas about your problems rather than waiting for a response on this forum (and, boy, aren't I going to be a lot of trouble ...) |

I am going to jump in here and bring up the same issue. I tried playing today at a Starbucks because I had some time to kill. It asked me for my license again. But, now when I re-input the number it says it can't 'write to the file'. I tried both of my numbers and I get the same error message. It says I can run the game in demo mode but now it won't even do that.
If you find out anything please post here so I can figure this out. This is awful. Yes, I do have one of the new MacBook Pro's. I have played it before but now.. no joy. Brian B.
