Wild talent changes

Version: OOTPx (most recent patch)
Computer: PC
Reproducible: Unknown

I've come across 2 very, very strange talent boosts. The first one turned a nothing prospect into a super-platoon type player:

Player Report for #40 John Curtis

The second turned a 2-2-2 prospect into probably the best shortstop in the league:

Player Report for #16 Thomas Field

In the editor, both players have numbers that are way, way over their potentials. Is this normal? I mean, I guess it is enjoyable that nothing prospects sometimes turn into studs - but to this degree?

If you look in the editor you will see current ratings sometimes higher than potential. That is behaviour to be expected. Depending on the setting that says "base ratings on ratings rather than AI evaluation" you may see on reports that current > potential.

It looks like about the time you'd expect talent changes to work through, though I'm not sure how often jumps like what you've seen happen - mostly it seems to be 2 or 3 attributes that get a boost.

Should I expect that shortstop to come back to earth any time soon? (He was a half star prospect with 4-4-4 talents (2-8 scale))
