Crash during "Loading Database" - League Lost??

Hi. I hope someone can help.

I was attempting to add a real MiLB picture to a generic picture, and the game crashed. I had gotten as far as renaming the player in the "My Documents.../photos" folder, and then upon trying to activate it in the game by saving, it crashed to the desktop.

Now, every time I try to load my league, it crashed at the "Checking Database" portion of the loan screen, right at 70%. I am able to load other leagues.

Is there anyway to save my league, or is it lost!!!??

Naturally, I had no backup. OOTP 10, PC, and latest patch.

Thanks for any help you can give.

L

BTW, so I was playing around to see which files were hanging it up, and I swapped out another "Players.dat" file for the one in my league, and just like that, it loaded fine.

However, the stats are not correct. Apparently, this is the corrupt file.

Now the question I must ask is, Can I fix my players.dat file so as to restore my league?

Thanks!!!

As a frequent manipulator of stat files, the answer is yes. I've needed to do it regularly to fix team history since my online league began using High Heat. The best advice I can advise is the following:

1- Before you do anything else, go to 'Show all Players'
2- Be certain you have all players, including Retired Players, showing
3- Go to your league setup off of the Game Setup menu
4- Select Export Stats towards the bottom of that menu
5- This should create .txt files you can manipulate (Although I can get .csv files created doing this in earlier versions, which I prefer)
6- Look closely at the file first and confirm you see some retired players in your file. If you don't ensure you have all your players there, you'll lose your retired stats history!
7- As you figure out what fields you need to fix, you can move forward.
8- The bad news: Expect a long potential process if every player needs work.

The better solution: Got a backup file you made? I'd rather lose some recent history than try to manipulate all the history...which I've been doing for RL years.
