Lineup problem.
I have an issue that's driving me slightly bonkers, to say the least. (Not that I'm already there, but I digress...) I'm playing in sim-mode, game by game.
I have my Catcher position setup so that the backup catcher starts every third game. Great so far, right? The same backup catcher just happens to be my primary DH as well, and I set my primary catcher to start in the DH every third game. In essence, the two catchers flip-flop positions every third game, to give the primary C a rest (since DH mode doesn't seem to use energy). From the box scores, it's not happening, and my primary catcher is getting worn down to a totally exhausted level. I keep having to intervene and switch positions in the lineups every few games. What's going on here, and is there a solution to the problem other than finding someone else to play DH and lose the guy's bat for 2 games out of three? Nothing is specifically wrong, but the game doesn't work that way. It won't use somebody in the starting lineup as your backup, even at DH. This often comes into play when you are trying to use catchers at other positions. Even worse, the game won't move a C playing another position to catcher if the starter gets hurt or is pinch hit for.
Unfortunately, the only way to do what you are trying to do involves a little micromanagement. You could either use the 7-day lineup feature and set your lineups manually each week. Or you could manually change the depth chart and lineup every third day, then change it back after the game. Sorry there is not an easier way.

A more drastic but efficient fix is to eliminate the DH.
Out damned spot!

I tend to work my roster to have a third C in a situation like that. Basically one of your Cs is a DH, not a C.
Also you don't need to platoon the Cs to deal with fatigue. Platooning is really only useful if you have two guys at the same position who are nearly equal and you want to get both some ABs. Finally, consider alternating your DH on a lefty-righty basis, rather than on the same depth chart (which as Tribe pointed out, you can't really do anyway). FWIW |

@RchW: Sacrilege! AL rules, NL drools!
![]() @SteveP:Good idea on the lefty-righty basis, should have thought of that before. Thanks. Now that the season's over for me (after I get done kicking butt in the playoffs, that is!), I'll be able to figure out what to do with one of these guys. Maybe I'll get lucky and find an upgrade over one of my outfielders or pitchers, or convert one of them to LF. Or just go with Steve's idea. *shrug* Got all off-season to think about it!
