Rule 5 draft option problem.

I wanted to disable the Rule 5 draft for my current solo league, but the game will not permit me to do that - the option is grayed out. I'm using a standard setup with no modifications whatsoever to the league structure or teams, and they have the standard minor league teams assigned.

I did some reading of the online manual, and came across this:

OOTP Baseball Manual - Rule 5 Draft

Note: Rule 5 drafts can only be enabled in leagues that have affiliated minor leagues! If you don't see this option, you might not have any minor leagues associated with the currently selected league.

I'm using a standard setup with no modifications (not a quickstart, btw), and every team has the standard out-of-the-box minors assigned.

I'm absolutely puzzled as to what's going on here. Any help would be appreciated.

What date are you currently on in the game?

Off-season in February.

Clarification edit: It's Feb. 2nd. Pre-season begins Feb. 3rd, if that helps.

Further edit: using 10.4.29 (haven't upgraded to the beta patch), XP SP2 machine.

I decided to go ahead and resume the game rather than wait for an answer, and advanced to the preseason. I immediately checked the settings, and turned off the Rule 5 draft.

Seems that you can only do that during the preseason. Perhaps someone would like to insert that fact into the online game manual.
