Trouble Uploading via FTP for online league

Once i installed the newest patch i've lost the option to upload my team file via FTP. I've checked my FTP settings and completely redownloaded the full league file with a new set up, and still that option is not there. Is anyone else having this issue? Any help is much appreciated!

Thanks

I am pretty sure this setting can only be changed by the commissioner in an online league. I did notice that it reset in my league as well.

In your game, if you go to Game -> FTP Setup

What does it list for upload team files there? Is the checkbox enabled there? If not, the commish will need to upload a new file with that enabled.

If it is enabled, is all of the information there look complete, or are some entries missing?

Yeah, if the option to upload the file is not even there and the FTP options checkbox is checked, you have me stumped I fear.

Did you install the patch over the top of your previous installation? You might try uninstalling the game and re-installing everything from scratch. Re-download the league file and see if the option appears.

Are you looking for it on the "Manager Home"? Thats where I look but I don't know if there is another place where that option can pop up that you are used to seeing.

I'm looking for it on the team home page with the stats and who's hot who's not list is. I will try unistalling and downloading fresh as well.

Thanks for the suggestions, keep them coming!!!

You said checkbox as in singular. There should be 2: one for downloading the league file, one for uploading your export.

Im having the same problem. After the patch i no longer have the option to upload my team via ftp. I just have the export to my documents option. In the FTP options the top options is filled out but the the other options are blank. Is that the problem? I have the latest league file and i reinstalled the game. I can download league file from within game. Others in league can export team file.
Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, you have to have the ftp upload options filled out or you won't have the ability to upload.

I know I've heard of a few others who had their settings erased when patching. Try entering them back in and see if that fixes your issue.

Thanks for the help. But now do i need to enter my team password or does the commish need to fill it out? Keep in mind that the top option is filled out.
Before the patch i never had to enter anything in the FTP options.

Your commish, not you the managers, should really be the one filling this stuff out in the game setup > online options screen. It would be unwise be throwing the password around. I'm even uncomfortable with seeing the other ftp account info being shown.

Well i dont think theres anything wrong with it showing the info. Because you cant see the password and an owner is gonna know his leagues website anyway. But i think my problem is in the team upload options since i can download but i cant upload any exported team files. I just wasnt sure if the commish had to input everything or if i was suppose to input my team password.

He has to check and fill in both sections, though, downloads and uploads. There's not just one section like before. (There's also a 3rd section, download import, and while that may be handy for some, it's not as commonly used as the first two.)

I realize I may be threadjacking here and if the OP wants me to separate the topics I will, but...

I'm uncomfortable with it because it shows everything but the password and depending on the password creator, they're not always difficult to break. If you read this, commish, my apologies, but our commish had been (note the past tense) using a ridiculously easy to guess password. How many others do that? Yeah, maybe a league is open, at least within the league, about the exact location of where they store their latest sim update file (even Andreas himself has advocated people not publicize the location of the file and yeah, the person needs access to a file to see all this, but they could be being given a different temporary file from another location), but why the heck should the ftp account username be shown?

What's maybe worse however is that now that that menu choice is there online league members are asking for the info and I imagine there's at least some commishes out there who won't think about it and will hand it out without later changing it. I imagine someone must have thought there must be some benefit to flaunting the info like this, but I really don't see it. What was wrong with it only being open to the commish? What purpose does it serve members, really? And if there is one, does the benefit really outweigh the looser security?

I'm really quite surprised to see this especially since Andreas preaches about security so much and seems to have actually taken a sincere interest in making OOTP online leagues more secure.

I'm the commish for Jikky_jeff's league and I've been working with him through this problem. What you describe, BaseballMan, is exactly what we're seeing, too. We've set the FTP settings and tested the connection and the connection works fine. However, the only option we have is to export the team file to jikky's home directory. Since BaseballMan reinstalled the game, that was my last suggestion to jikky, so I don't think this is going to work.

Please post a solution to this if you find one. We'll keep working at it.

I don't know if it's worth noting, but Jikky is using the Mac version of the game. He's the only one in the league experiencing this. We have one other Mac user.

I think you may want to go directly to Andreas and ask him for help. He's been helping another league with their export problems. If anyone can fix it, he can. Well, Alan T's a great choice to get help with these problems too, but since he's stumped it might be time to call for the man.

I see your point. It does make sense since theres really no need for anyone to see it but the commish. I havent been in very many leagues so its not something i paid much attention too. I never even looked at until after the patch so yeah your right it doesnt really serve no purpose if its not any info i need to input there.
I dont see the point in joining a league and then cheating. It would not be fun to me. If a person was able to crack the password wouldnt any changes be noticeable? I dont feel like we have any owners that would but i would be concerned about a non owner getting the file and doing something to the league just to be mean. Though im not sure how they would get the league file without being an owner.

Actually, that (what I bolded in your quote) wasn't what I was getting at at all. A few days ago I just got done with deleting and re-installing every little thing on our site after we got hacked and everything got injected with stuff. And we have lots of forum modifications so it's really not that easy and quick of a thing. I spent several hours over a few days re-doing every little thing, trying to figure out how they got in, what all we should, etc and trust me, if I could get my hands on the neck of the little runt that got in and did the damage, I'd wring their neck a good long time. It was our own stupid fault, though, as I said awhile ago that we should change that password and do some other things, but we just never did it. I don't blame OOTP for that one.

The problem is, though, that stuff like this just makes it that much easier for someone to do something.

I can't remember exactly who it was, but I do remember one long-time commish awhile ago close up shop on his long-time league saying that he was just too fed up with dealing with hackers. That's really too bad, but I totally understand. If I was the commish of our league and to deal with this as well as all the crap that goes along with a conversion (we were going through both at the exact same time), then I'd say the heck with it and quit too. It's a lot of work just commishing and having to deal with hackers on top of it is just too much. How many commishes quit or are at least made miserable for some time because of hackers? I say we should try to do every little thing to prevent them from getting in and ruining our enjoyment of the game.
