Clicking on link to start causes nothing to happen

Version: 10.4.29 (it's the most stable for me, 10.4.31 crashes after a month or so of simming)
PC/MAC: PC
What were you doing?: Clicking on the link to start the game causes nothing
What happened? When I click the link to start OOTPX, the cursor momentarily changes to the cursor/hourglass and nothing else happens
Problem occurs with other leagues? N/A

Turning Data Execution Protection makes an error box pop up saying "The application failed to initialize properly *(0xc00000005). Click OK to terminate."

uninstalled and reinstalled latest version, still crashes upon click

I'll just reinstall it when I figure out what's wrong.
