Unable to "move" scheduled games in editor

I tried to create my own "variance" from the game-generated schedule by merely moving games around. What I mean by that is deleting a game from the original date, then creating another game between the two teams on a future or prior selected date. The number of games between the teams and in total stays the same.

However, apparently this causes a problem when playing out my games. I played up to the first deleted game - I moved a game from 6/9 to 8/27 (season starts 6/1). Now I don't have the option to play the regularly scheduled game on the home page, because it's saying that my "next" game is the game that is now on 8/27, even though it isn't.

I have a feeling this is because of the Game ID's that are re-used when that game is re-created, and then the game is still using those ID's in order when playing out games. That shouldn't be right. I didn't have this problem when I simmed out games in a test environment, because I assume that the scheduled games were still being played when the day itself is simmed.
