Repeatable crash at end of feeder season - REQUEST ASSISTANCE

Thie bug has been logged as BZ3628 (P1). I am running the latest version of OOTP X under Windows XP.

Our league (the PEBA) is unable to advance any further. We are currently on May 31, 2011. At the conclusion of this day, the PEBA's college feeder league (the USCBA) will conclude its season. When the game tries to generate new USCBA players, it will crash every single time.

Needless to say, I'm at my wit's end over this. There are 36 owners who are counting on me to keep things moving. I've tried every trick I know, but I simply cannot advance to June 1 without the game crashing.

Our league files have been "funky" since the get-go. Markus has looked at them previously and explained that there are thousands of entries for teams that were deleted during the initial league setup but never purged from the database. I believe these "ghost entries" bloat our league files, and I wonder if they may be behind this problem.

I would be beyond appreciative if someone could help determine and fix the cause of the crash. At the least, it would be helpful to know if someone using a different computer can use our league files to advance to June 1. If you would like access to our league files for testing purposes, let me know and I'll happily provide you with a copy.

Man, this sucks. It sounds like a lot of online leagues are getting stuck. I'm afraid I most likely won't be of any real help (reading dat files beyond some basic stuff is beyond me), but if just trying to load your files on my computer could be a help then I'm willing to try. You can PM me with the location of where I can download them and I'll try what I can. Include a commish account's info so I can try to sim, take a look around.

I'm happy to report that a solution has been found. Markus rode to our rescue and lent a helping hand. The thanks of our entire league goes out to him. Sometimes we get frustrated with the fact that a pet feature we'd like to see hasn't been added, or an annoying bug hasn't been squashed, but I know that I'll keep coming back because of the personal care I've seen Markus put into his product, not to mention the outstanding community that's grown around it.

With the gushy stuff out of the way... kq76, I may take you up on your offer. Though our problem is technically circumvented, I'm still not sure why the game would crash every single time I tried to advance to June 1. This was happening on both my computers. Now my computers are 2005 models with just 1 GB of RAM each, and our league's universe is pretty large, so I'm wondering if a lack of system resources is to blame. Maybe you can help me test that theory, kq76... PM on the way shortly.

Also having this problem in Solo League

I am also having the same problem.

My league is a fictional league with 2 divisions of 4 teams starting in 1961. It has a 3 game playoff at the end of the season. It completes season one and crashes at the end of the second season.

When restarted, it is back to January 1 between seasons 1 and 2.

I am using Windows XP and my version of OOTP is 10.4.36

It is repeatable and happens on new leagues. One thing is odd that may have to be with the problem is the league can not be deleted. The delete button does not 'come alive' when the league is selected to do so.

Thanks!

That's interesting in that your league sounds much, much smaller than the PEBA. I was guessing that our league's large size coupled with my low system RAM may have been the culprit for our problems. How much RAM do you have on the system that you're running, and how fast is your processor?

I have 2gb of ram and I am running an intel quad core processor, but I do not know the speed.

This did not happen on earlier editions of OOTP10.

Hi there. I'm very sorry it's taken us so long to post an "official" reply in this thread. Still, I'd like to figure out if there is still an issue here, so we can make sure it gets taken care of for OOTP 11.

Aurelio, are you still experiencing this problem?

If so, could you FTP me a copy of your league files using the instructions here?

Thanks very much,

Steve
