1. (in OOTP) Create Reports
2. (in OOTP) Create Archive
3. (in OOTP) Upload Archive
4. (in cPanel on your server) Go to File Manager and find the directory you uploaded the archive to
5. (in cPanel on your server) Select the archive file and click "Extract"

GoDaddy has its own proprietary file manager, in which you can check a file, and choose "unarchive."

The process takes an inordinate amount of time, which I can't explain. It used to take my league reports archive about ten minutes to unzip on GoDaddy, and the same process now takes less than five seconds on my current host. Using a script on a GoDaddy server would probably be much faster than using their "unarchive" command.

Another thing: GoDaddy will not allow more than 1024 files in any given directory, so beware. If they find out that you have more than that, they will give you a week to restructure, then freeze the offending directories. OOTP reports cannot be restructured into a hierarchy with 1024 files per folder, by any reasonably efficient method.

So I am guessing that unarchive is the same thing as extract? If so, where is the proprietary file manager?

Anyone else having issues with the built in HTTP league download feature? Seems to keep wanting to download with FTP, even though the box isn't checked.

Can somebody please help me figure this out? I'm using BlueHost and I'm trying to configure my online league to upload to my site.

  • Go into cPanel and find the File Manager
  • After opening File Manager, you will see your files and folders. Open the one that says “/public_html’
  • Create a new folder and name it “ootpfiles”
  • Open that folder and create within it another folder named “reports”
  • Close the File Manager.
  • In cPanel, find “FTP Accounts” and click it.
  • You should see a section there with the title “Add FTP Account”
  • Fill in the information like such…

Login: ootpfiles
Password: ************ (make it very cryptic!)
Password Again: ************
Directory: /public_html/ootpfiles
Quota: Unlimited

  • Click “Create FTP Account” and make note of the info somewhere safe
  • Next, open OOTP and go to Game Setup, Online Options
  • Find the section “Report Upload Options”
  • Input the info as such…

Host: yourwebsite.com (do not include www) Port: 21
Username: ootpfiles@yourwebsite.com (the username should look like an email address!)
Password: *************
Target Path on Server: /reports
Reports URL: (you can leave this blank)

  • Now click the Test Connection button. It should connect successfully. If not, recheck the steps above and be careful of typos and try again.
  • Now if you connected successfully, now you want to see your reports on your website. If you followed everything exactly as above, your reports will be at http://yourwebsite.com/ootpfiles/reports/news/html
