Getch's Utilities Help
I need help with installing his utilities to the hosting account. Ive tried and dont understand. All uploads for file, reports, and exports/imports are all working now. :-). Just need to figure out the e-mail thing and these utilities. If anyone could help me install these three things to my site.
Export Tracker Draft Thing All-Star Voting

What version is your league? Last I read it only worked for OOTP9.
When I installed ours I seem to recall it going pretty smoothly. I don't remember, but I imagine I just followed his readme file.

For ootpX. Someone told me it would work and someone else told me statslab or something. I just want it to track the teams exports, all-star voting, and to help with the draft. So if I could use either or. Any advice is greatly appreciatead.

Well, it looks like Getch is working on a version for OOTPX that he says he'll provide a beta for if you ask.
You might want to just try out fhomess's statslab. Apparently it has some features that Getch's didn't.

Can anyone help me install statslab for me and show me how to input the files needed to make this statslab run? Been trying to do this for 3 days now. I only understand HTML and some javascript. I am clueless on php stuff as well as writing thing? How do you write a file? This would probably be easier if someone just did it as I dont have a clue on what to do. Its got so bad that I got th read me file printed out and makes no sense to me.

Are you reading the read-me files? I don't understand how you can claim to know html and java (or javascript? they are different in case you didn't know) and not understand how to follow a set of directions.
I can set up your getch utilities for you if you want but I have never done the statslab. It requires you have a SQL database and some other features. I am not sure I like it any better than getch's utils and his are much easier to manage and set up. Last edited by eodgooch; 08-06-2009 at 02:44 PM. |

Let me clarify some things. I set up StatsLab for this league, not once but twice. Adam, somehow, you managed to break it twice that forced me to install it twice. The StatsLab utilities are neither difficult to install or use. I have them in two of my leagues, conducted two initial drafts in my leagues and didn't have but one problem with them.
I told you I would reinstall them yet again this week. But I wonder if you have read the manual at all on how to use them. Once installed, after each sim, you have the game create the sql files for you and then you upload them to the folder that I told the utility to look for them. Then you go to admin and you load them. That's it, nothing difficult at all. So, whatever you are doing (such as deleting the dbopen.php file which is needed), quit and you can enjoy me installing it yet again for you. As for whether Getch or StatsLab are better than the other, I love Getch's utilities but they weren't available when I started my OOTPX league but StatsLab was. So, I installed StatsLab. I think they have been fantastic and fhomess has been very responsive when I have pinged him for assistance. Last edited by huskerdan25; 08-17-2009 at 03:39 PM. |

Yes I have read them...and tried myself several times for 2 to 3 hours each time. I really only understand basic html and some small javascripts. I know i have to upload the files. which I have done. However I dont understand what to put in the install.php fields or the admin...every time i try...i go back the fields are blank. So lost on why that happens. Ive tried before I asked him to do it...and now because people have been asking for it...and im just stumped.

BUT since he is in the same league as you, why doesn't he simply admin StatsLab for you? Set him up as a commissioner in the OOTP X file so that he has access to the admin portions of StatsLab and then every time you run a sim and post the results... huskerdan can take care of the StatsLab update? |
