The Waiver Wire and Online Leagues

I'd like to open up comment on the waiver wire and how league Commissioners deal with player claims. I currently have a situation in which a team claimed a player and should have received him, though he went to a team with a better record. I know issues existed in previous versions of OOTP.

I was told by OOTPX Developments that player claims should work correctly in online play. Is this the case for everyone?

There are known bugs that have been reported and logged regarding this issue. Hopefully they will be fixed in the next patch.

Thanks for the response. I've searched high and low for a BZ in the technical support forum, but I can't seem to find one. Would you mind pointing me in the right direction?

I honestly don't know if it was put in the technical support forum as it was logged as a BZ before the technical support forum for OOTPX was even started.

There are a few different BZ that deal with issues with waivers specifically in online leagues. BZ2328 seems to be the one that handles many different online league waiver issues however.

This shouldnt have to be done. Why cant this work in game? Seriously, has anyone in the know acknowledged the problem? Is it being worked on?

From all of the posts suddenly overnight on these threads, I get the feeling that one of the online leagues ran into this issue recently. I think I'm going to step out of the way of this train before it hits me.


I will say though, from my experience waivers seem to work correctly most of the time. They seem to get messed up in regards to players who are placed on irrevocable waivers.

The two things that I have seen which are broken appear to be:

1) Some times a player who is placed on irrevocable waivers will get claimed by a team successfully but for some reason end up on their previous team once the waiver time has expired.

2) In some cases the game does not seem to follow proper waiver priority rules when awarding a player. This seems to at least be true at the start of the season (in the first month when priority should be based on the previous season).

Since I am obviously not a developer, I can't comment on whether or not this is going to be fixed in the next patch or when that patch will be. As an online league commissioner and member, I obviously get frustrated by this bug too.

Actually, my guys are really understanding of the situation. I don't believe anyone from my league has posted in either this thread or the technical support thread.

It's good to see we have the issue pinpointed. More so, I'm looking forward to a response from OOTP Developments. Either way, I'd like to be told to either use the system or not.

I feel you fred. This has been an issue for some time but it has gotten better. I am the type of commish that prefers no external rules to the game but with waivers I have set-up a back up because it's always going to bite someone in the end until it's fixed.

I set up a waivers account on our forums and ask owners to PM their claims as well as do the claim in-game. This allows me to follow up a dispute with a record of the claim. No record, no dispute. It seems to work well.

Ultimately it's my hope that waivers just work, but until then we'll do what we have to.
