Trading: Can I Just Edit the Players
Started a league with 16 guys - all but two are new to OOTP so thank you OOTP developers and you are welcome!
- and we have our first trade! I have two profiles, one for my team and one with no team that I use for commish duties (not even sure if that is the proper way to go about things, but anyway.)I cannot even start the trade. If I am outside of the commish manager name, it tells me I need to be the commish. If I am on the commish manager name, it says "you do not manage a team or your league doesn't allow trading." That last part is incorrect; the league is set to allow trading. So, are there any pitfalls to just editing the players to their new teams and placing them where the GM's direct me to put them? I am guessing the only loss will be the news and history, right? if this is true, can someone please explain to me why the commish can't initiate a trade between two non-commish, human GM's? Thank you for your time. |

EDIT: There may be another setting you also need to change, but it's probably just the "act as" thing. Be careful with saying "editing players". Some people might take that as editing ratings and take you as a cheater as most leagues don't allow that.

You're welcome.
I feel fortunate having started with OOTP4. The game was much simpler then and my understanding of it has just grown alongside it. I think it must be awfully difficult for someone much newer to OOTP to understand the intricacies of it all now. Best of luck with your league!

Trading
I had the same question! Make sure you import the roster changes and then process the trade. I did the trades first and the imports because I had it run automatically in the commissioner portal but it sometimes screws up the trades. So when you have a trade- manually import the lineup changes and then run the other stuff. This is only a problem if you use the automated feature- some people run everything manually on their own.
