Has the Single League, No Playoff bug been fixed?

I have no interest in v10 unless this problem has been addressed. Why have the no playoffs feature if it doesn't work? No playoffs, should not result in a wildcard race. Teams that tie for second should do just that, tie. They should not play a meaningless game(you can't delete it) to break the tie. This doesn't matter to others, but for me it is a deal breaker.

By the way, I understand that fixing the no playoffs bug is low priority. Features of old versions are low on the priority list. New Flash is the Key. Please, ignore this question if it places a burdon on your ability to add some new flair features to the game or should I say flash. So if the no playoff feature was added to the game with no intention of it working, I understand. The fact that it is a feature is important. Features are what sell the game. Working features are something we as customers can only dream about, while we bask in the glow of sound, ball flight and a wonderful new list of v10 features.

Lou,

Although I do believe one catches more flies with honey, can you tell me, is your issue with this feature solely the fact that a playoff game is generated in the event of a second-place tie?

Or are there other aspects of it that are problematic? (For example, the fact that the standings page shows Wild Card standings.)

Thanks,

Steve

The way I read the post, that would seem to be one of the issues. Others have posted about it as well.

You should check out this post I made in the OOTP 10 suggestions forum, complete with screenshot examples, for a way of eliminating this particular issue. (One additional screenshot example can be found in this post, addressing the related issue of displaying split-season standings.)

As to tiebreaking playoff games, this area does need work. The game still does not correctly resolve three-way ties, and I've pointed out the proper procedure several times over the last couple of years. Tiebreaking is one of these areas that might not seem like a big thing but it's actually quite important, especially now that customizable playoffs are in the game (it definitely affects split-season leagues too).

Ideally, tiebreaking should be user customizable. This need not be overly detailed, even a basic set of options would be a huge advance. The selectable choices could just be: 1) no tiebreaking playoff games, all ties are resolved by non-game methods; 2) tiebreaking playoff games are only played when a playoff berth is on the line, otherwise non-game tiebreaking methods are used to resolve ties (this is what MLB does); 3) a tiebreaking playoff game is always played, even between teams which have qualified for the post-season, if settling that tie affects the opponents the clubs would play.

As to the non-game tiebreaking methods to be followed, OOTP can simply use any of the particular real-world rules used in MLB or the minors (I have a fairly comprehensive list of such rules which can be used as reference. Markus can simply select from that list the rules which would be the simplest to code).

I agree. We should also be able to choose whether the tie breaking games are 1 game or 3 game series.

the bug with the playoff tie-breaker for 2nd place is fixed......
but when you disable playoffs the bug that still displays the wild-card standings still exists. With playoffs disabled, wild-card standings are still displayed...

but here's how you fix it =

Step 1 - uncheck Disable Playoffs
Step 2 - check Custom Playoffs
Step 3 - check Disbable Playoffs

The wild-card standings will no longer display.

The only problem I now come across regarding this setup, is when two teams tie for 1st place following the entire regular season. Within that instance, I am scheduling one more regular season game to be played between the two teams.

Unfortunately, the game is crowning the team that LOSES that game the league champion.
Below - 154 game schedule with No playoffs.
Season series between St Louis & New York - Yankees 6, Cardinals 4
No idea how the Cardinals were crowned.
