Interesting this. I go to Gamestop and find the game I want sold out. I spent an hour and a half to be seated at a Restaurant.....on a Tuesday night. A buddy of mine works for a local employment agency. He tells me that employers are calling just as frequently for hires as they were 3 years ago. I wonder, when it comes to the ecnomy, what's truth and what's political mumbo jumbo.

Anyway, as far as the game, I think Markus' track record speaks highly for the direction of the game, and more importantly, v10. Hard to say specifically if v10 will be worth your hard earned money, but there's a good chance it will be a good product. I know that probably doesn't help you much, but, take it for what it's worth.

Hehe, the worst part is that I am actually working my way towards my avatar. Why didn't anyone tell me that only my wife loses pregnancy weight?

I honestly don't know why you bother posting when you have nothing constuctive or helpful to say. Are you just trying to get your post count up? When i first joined here i was shocked at how mature and thoughtful everyone on these forums were, but you have single handingly changed that. Great job, The Wolf.!

The thing i liked with 2009 he best was the ability to start 19th century leagues. Though it did come with a host of problems as in schedules, expansion etc.

I suspect, no. There are more efficient ways to do that.

Convince me

I don't see the need to fire back on the OP in this thread. Are we witnessing the return of the dread plague fanboyism which once plagued these hallowed halls? A pox on your houses!

I usually buy every other version of OOTP, and I'm pretty happy with version 9. The version X feature list is not so far awe-inspiring enough for me to pre-order. Once it comes out and I see the demo, I may spring for it, especially if the news and play descriptions have become richer. But until then, what's the harm in asking each other for impressions of the announced feature list? Maybe you can point something out that will make one of us on the fence say, "Hmmm... that really would be a feature I'd benefit from." You might in your wisdom save me ten bucks. And surely, surely this league of distinguished gentlemen would never pass up an opportunity to pontificate one more time on the subjects you've been beating to death since version 1.

Lighten up! The OP is paying you a compliment by asking your perspective.

The United States Bureau of Labor Statistics has a message for your buddy: the current unemployment rate is the highest it's been since April 1983.

Only been on this board a few months, but this is the first CIV reference I've seen. Well done!

On the upside (such as it is), inflation and interest rates are well below the April 1983 values.

Except that some of the responses you refer to are from posters who are decidedly not fanboys.

I would have no clue how to convince someone to buy. There aren't that many baseball sims out there. Warts and all OOTP is number 1 or 1a. If it isn't, someone should tell me which two beat it.

I don't see the need to fire back on him, either, but similarly I don't see the need to accomodate him (or her; since dwarven women have beards it can be difficult to distinguish them from dwarven men).

I've never understood why threads such as 'Preordered!' or 'Will Not Buy It' are started at all, and I likewise don't understand why they don't die quickly. Who cares whether you pre-ordered, or will pre-order, or won't pre-order? That's all about you and has nothing to do with me. In the same vein, who cares what later posters feel about you pre-ordering or not pre-ordering? It seems a lot like masturbation to me.

And now we have some short bearded person who's saying "Convince me"? This person's so narcisistic that he's (or she's) asking me to masturbate for them! I'm sorry, but I just don't know you that well.

The game's not out. How can I convince you of its worth when I don't know its worth? I'd be speculating in the dark, and my opinion would be worth nothing. And if my opinion's worth nothing, why ask for it?

Some posters complain about how dead the forum gets this time of year. Maybe these threads are attempts to generate some traffic and liven things up, but they're more like going into a bar, picking out the biggest drunk guy you can find and telling him you just slept with his sister. You might be amused, the drunk guy might get some satisfaction, but the patrons who just wanted to drink in peace get screwed.

Now, if you'll excuse me, all this talk of masturbation and screwing has put me in mind of another forum I haven't visited in awhile….

I can see how threads such as "Preordered!" are constructive. They build morale, cameraderie, and anticipation for the game which 95% of us have loved for years. They're affirming.

Threads such as "Will Not Buy It" or "Convince Me" are the equivalent of sitting down in the middle of the playground and pouting, trying to break up the game that all the other kids are enjoying. The original posters think that the forum and community revolves around them. Pure ego trip.

Don't go into those threads if you don't like them. Simple.
