I will go along with The Wolf on this one.

To be asked to be convinced is pretty arrogant.

I do my own research, and form my own opinions.

The OP sure sounds like his mind is already made up, and is looking to go the moral high ground and dump on Markus and OOTP.

Well, there IS no moral high ground. Just a bunch of us OOTP fans, who resent the snotty, arrogant attitude of the original poster.

If he didn't mean to come off as snotty and arrogant, cool. My apologies in that case.

What's wrong with that is that WE DON'T KNOW how (or whether) Version 10 will be better than Version 8. All we have to go on is the same advertising and snippets that bonedwarf does, so why is he asking? I agree that he came off as snooty and arrogant.

It would make more sense if he was asking us whether moving from Version 8 to Version 9 would be a good idea, because at least there are many posters who've played both, but the only people who've played Version 10 are covered by a non-disclosure agreement, which he knew before he asked.

I realize I'm leaving myself open to charges of arrogance, but I feel this guy got what he deserved.

And someone who's 6'8" and clean-shaven is not a dwarf, so he's been misleading us.

And that's the way of it.

Agreed. The thing I can't figure out about the original poster is that he says he's played OOTP for years and has over 1000 posts on the forum, yet professes to be so stunned at the responses to his question that he will no longer purchase the game. I didn't see anything in this thread that I haven't seen a million times before; ie. the usual range of responses. I could sort of understand a newcomer to the game and the forum starting one of those dumb "convince me" threads, but when it comes from a veteran player it makes me wonder what he expected.

first of all, i never condoned the original posters question. Some people just think that the world revolves around them and the original posters' wording just comes off that way. Perhaps he was just wondering the new features and hopeing for someone who has played X to answer, and when someone said 'they can't say' he got his answer. Again, i didn't condone it. My thoughts are the same as Curtis and Spitfires. All I was saying is i can't understand why there are so many people that feel the need to bash and insult the kid, and when i say so many people i mostly mean mostly 1 person. The best thing to do would be for those of you who didn't want to help just not answer. Its that simple. But of course that is impossible, at least for people like 'the wolf'..

i find it quite humourous too that "the wolf" talks about "bad behaviour" because 2000 arrogant unnecessary comments beats 1 ignorant immature post. Anyday.

The kid???? The guy said he was 6'8" and is married. I'd hate to see what happens when he grows up!!!!!! As for why people bashed the guy .... he made three posts in the first hour of the thread demanding that forum members convince him to part with his hard-earned cash. Didn't say please or thank you even once. Didn't ask in a friendly way what people think of the proposed new features (which by the way he could have found out for himself by reading the forum a little). Just said that he wouldn't buy the game at all if we couldn't convince him to do so. As Freddie Prinze used to say, "It's not my job, man!" All this about a game that most forum members haven't even seen yet. Pretty self-centered, juvenile stuff, whatever the guy's age, size or methods of masturbation.

I have to agree with you, dave. I have this seemingly uncontrollable need to derail threads, and the proper thing for me to have done would have been to start my own silly thread on the topic of posters starting silly threads. Then I could've exercised my irony chromosome, rather than filibustering about dwarven physiognomy.

I've gotta work on that impulse control.

My thoughts too.

Come on guys, let's give him a break. I'm sure most of us go through tough periods at times and word posts not as well as we might later wish we had. I know I'm certainly guilty of that at times. Yes, it's no excuse to be rude, but how about we all just roll our eyes and move on now. I'm sure all valid points have been made.

I really don't like to see threads locked that could be productive, but as this one looks like it has run its course I'm going to lock it before it turns bad again.
