On Feb 19 Steve wrote "So, as in years past, we will start to give you more information as we can, including some sort of "Road to Release" type features!"

I am okay about waiting. I'm not demanding a release date. I'm not mad or full of attitude. But I do wonder exactly what Steve meant 6 weeks ago when he stated the intention to highlight some sort of road to release features. If a software company tells you they are going to do something and then don't do it, somebody has a right to ask why. Those of us who love this game want to see Marcus and company succeed. Selling games to the faithful may or may not ensure that success. Expanding the market share with new customers year by year seems to offer a better foundation for the future. A little minimal marketing along the way (say, 1 screenshot a month?) would seem to be in everyone's best interest.

In the past, the road to release stuff usually starts about a month before the release date. My guess is we aren't that close yet

This sounds like a reasonable explanation for the silence from OOTP.

I think it's time to start another dynasty with oopt 9. My feeling is it's going to be awhile before 10 is released.

Oh well, no big deal to me.

Btw, isn't it great to have a ball game on and play ootp?! I love it!

Let's just keep things civil, everyone. It's not unreasonable for someone to be excited about playing the game and want to hear more about it. I would be very surprised if a game development company who chooses to hype its games pre-release wouldn't expect this. If you hype up your game, people are going to want to know more about it and want to play it, preferably sooner rather than later. That's the whole point.

Here's a suggestion. A good way to keep things civil would be to immediately lock any thread where anyone starts demanding an update or release date.

Or how about a sticky update thread? That way all the spoiled children could all hang out there and bounce their demands off each other.

There you go being all rational and grown-up and stuff again. The spoiled children aren't going to like you at all.

i like that idea. And that's what should be happening! If someone demands or ask for an update, give him the most current link about the update and lock the topic.

I went ahead and bought BM2010. I have to say it is a pretty solid game but of course a few bugs.

When I bought OOTP9, I stopped playing BM2009. I didn't play BM2k9 again. That was Last June til this March. When BM2010 I haven't touched OOTP9.

I have gone back and forth of the years.

I got started playing Ernie Harwell Baseball in the 90's. Then besides console games my first introduction to this genre was Season Ticket Baseball (Maybe OOTP 2 or 3) in 2000? I first started with OOTP3, then OOTP 4, In November 2002, I started to play OOTP exclusively for about 2 months. After that I never played OOTP Excluvely longer than a week. That changed when I bought OOTP8 and then 9.

I have to say that OOTP9 is the most complete baseball sim I have ever played. In going into the future, I usually buy every verison of Mogul, with OOTP, I bought OOTP3,4,5, 6, OOTP8 and OOTP9 and 10.

I can't wait for OOTP10, but at the same time, I have mogul to hold me over I would love to see an update rather than Spring 2009. What does that mean? I think it means middle of Spring.

When it's ready it will be ready is not acceptable either. I've paid for the product, and I only think it's fair to get some kind of update as to when that product will be delivered.

Simply narrowing the window of possibilities would be nice, but no answer is not good business.

Tomorrow is opening day, and I know we are all itching to play the game. If it's going to be another month, just tell us. I'm not asking for a rush on things, but as a paying customer I'm just asking for some kind of update that will give us loyal customers a better understanding of when we will be receiving the product.

Thanks in advance.

Matt
Every year we have the newbies crying about the release date and updates. I don't care how long you have played the game your join date says 2009 that makes you a newbie. Maybe if you toned down the way you opened this post the other members wouldn't hurt your feelings so with their biting remarks. I think your opening remarks where and are B.S.

In general I can't see any reason why asking for updates is such a crime...even if the posted message fails to meet some folks' subjective standards of "appropriateness."

OOTP is a business and Markus is an adult. I doubt it/he needs to be protected from "rude" questions. It ain't a hobby engaged in by an eccentric, hyper-sensitive relative; it's a money-making operation.

The sociology around here is much like high school, with insiders (who want to keep their status by establishing "the rules" all must follow to be accepted into their clique) and outsiders who often don't know or care about these rules. Heck, I bet there's even a few stoners out there.

But, then, much of our society is similar to high school when you come right down to it.

Personally I completely ignore post count and join date when I read people's posts.
