You Have our $$$, now for an Update
I really don't think it's too much to ask for some kind of update. You have been developing this game year in an year out, and if you don't have a better idea other than "Spring" at this point, that's just b.s.
When it's ready it will be ready is not acceptable either. I've paid for the product, and I only think it's fair to get some kind of update as to when that product will be delivered. Simply narrowing the window of possibilities would be nice, but no answer is not good business. Tomorrow is opening day, and I know we are all itching to play the game. If it's going to be another month, just tell us. I'm not asking for a rush on things, but as a paying customer I'm just asking for some kind of update that will give us loyal customers a better understanding of when we will be receiving the product. Thanks in advance. Matt |

Oh to be new...
1. Nobody forced you to pre-order 2. You will get an update when one is ready 3. Attitude will never get you anywhere, especially on an online forum 4. Small companies don't have the resources to pinpoint a release date 5. There is always something to complain about...if a date was given and released that day, people like you would be the first to complain about how 'the game shouldn't be released if its not ready' While I also would like an update on when the game will come out, this isn't the way to make friends. |

Its kinda funny when new people think by having an attitude and demanding a relase date that its gonna happen. If that were true im sure everyone would have tried it. Yeah i understand the frustration but i dont think demanding an update ever works.

Though, I understand the frustration that the poster is expressing, it is not going to happen. Without the PR arm that SI provided, through Marc Duffy, (remember The Road to Release) Markus can not afford to pay someone or do it himself.
With that said, I would like to see at least another screenshot or two of the product. I do not think it is too much to ask for a monthly update. Also, interest will be at it's height on Openning Day of the MLB. An update could go a long way to increase pre-ordering. Just my thoughts.

My newbie thoughts...
I pre-ordered too. I don't think anyone could be more anxious than I, but I joined the OOTP family because I've heard that it's the best out there. Between the game and the people, you won't find better...is what I've been told. Posts like yours are destined to eliminate half of that equation for you. And I know it's been said a thousand times in these forums, but I as a newbie will echo the sentiment, I would rather have a good product months from now than a rushed product trying to meet some sort of deadline. You said that "when it's ready, it's ready" wasn't a good enough answer. Why not? Would you rather get your hopes up for a specific date only to see the date get pushed back? Or worse yet, have an unfinished product come out on the assigned date?
Marcus...do your thing bro. Please don't waste your time answering posts like this. It only will prolong the wait for the rest of us. I suspect that the original poster will be sufficiently cowed by the numerous "old timers" of the game.

I don't know the release date. I saved ten dollars. More than a fair trade-off in my book.

I hope to be providing more information soon. Obviously, we try hard every year to release on or around Opening Day, but we're not going to make that this year!
![]() We still firmly believe it will be out before the end of spring. Still, it's going to be a great game! ![]() Steve

Pretty demanding for a nOOb. Must have gotten tired of Backyard Baseball? This game is far more in depth than an arcade style console game. It is never rushed just because somebody gets his panties in a twist.

2 total posts by the OP and both are basically demanding an update. Laughable.
You mention 'us loyal customers'.....................does that include you or those who have been here for as many as ten years? In other words, chill out. No one twisted your arm to pre-order. |

Should there be someone doing updates? Yep... I don't expect Markus to do it, but we do have mods, beta testers, and a loyal fan base here, and I am sure it would be pretty easy to find a volunteer or two to test drive the game and talk it up on the forums.
Was there ever and expectation that this would happen when you purchased? NO!! When you preordered, it said that the game would be released in the Spring. You agreed to those terms. It is one thing to ask for an update, it is completely different to expect and demand one.

Well, I mean... There's been a lot of blind defense of OOTP and Markus in this thread and on this forum, which is to be expected of course, given that we all love the game and are loyal to it.
However, read the OP's post again. Was he that unreasonable with his requests? Not really. He could have done without some of the attitude, but if you think about it, updates would help the game just as much as they would please us. This has already been mentioned by someone else in this thread, but any news is only going to drive up purchases. Me, I'm going to buy the game regardless of news, and I'm going to wait and enjoy it and all that. But not everyone is a loyal customer, remember. Our forum here really only represents a small sect of buyers of OOTP- those who are passionate enough about OOTP to take the time to actually talk about regularly. So, naturally, most of the posts here are going to lean more towards unfairly praising the game, rather than unfairly criticizing it. I think we just need to not get so defensive when someone questions one of the marketing, or even gameplay, tactics that Markus puts into place. It's going to happen, because not every customer is like, well, the majority of us here. Just my $0.02. (And I do agree that Markus shouldn't waste time replying to these posts, even though I think someone should be charged with the task of OOTP PR.) |

I have been around since version 1 and I have learned that patience is a virtue. some years the wait is longer but the outcome is always worth the wait. Be patient grasshoppers as when you finally get your hands on the best sim on the game scene you will be telling us all that it was worth the wait.....

The perceived drama, real or unreal in reality, and unlikable attitude of 90% of the people here let me know "that's cool, I'll do just fine without the game". ... and I'm a guy that actually cares enough to post. How many you think just "Go Away" ... |

The noob with 1 post has a point. New customers keep Markus in business, or at least a more profitable one. Calling people stupid for asking for an update or just being jerks because you have a higher post count isn't doing anybody any good.
