In many years of looking at essentially all of the OOTP rosters ever publicly released, Gambo and Doc are the only other roster makers I can recall who ever made roster sets that I liked pretty much the way they were right out of the box.

Anyone think an accurate roster set would drastically change the fictional:historical:real breakdown for preferred gameplay? I know I would jump from fictional to real in a heartbeat with an accurate roster set...

If by 'accurate' you mean it got the ratings — particularly defensive ratings — right, I'd try it in a heartbeat. If by 'accurate' you mean that it had all the rosters right, as of a particular date, down to Rookie League, then I wouldn't be much interested.

I enjoy historical, mostly because I like the challenge of taking over a loser in real life and turning them into a winner. My most recent attempt was the 1984 Indians. I got fired after the first year, and was hired by the Brewers for 1985. Got fired after one season with them too, and went to the ChiSox, but had a problem with the draft class import and found that my backup was corrupt, so I just killed that one and started a new league managing the 1982 Rangers. We'll see...

What's your concept of "accurate"?

Well, I guess accurate to me personally would be like Curtis said, where the ratings are accurate and the rosters, including the minors, are fairly close.
There's really no such thing as a perfect roster set, so as long as the main players were there and the ratings were mostly accurate, I'd be in. Otherwise its back to Imaginary Baseball for me! |

Accurate to me would be simple.
Get the contracts right, the bios (i.e. d.o.b., p.o.b, college etc) right and the stats right. I believe OOTP has an engine that can develop ratings based on stats right? I am easy to please |

I am always happy and impressed with those who obvious put thousands of hours into a single roster set. There is no such thing as a perfect roster set, not even in real life baseball :-)
