Thanks in advance for any insight!
All beta testers sign something called a non disclosure agreement which prohibits them from commenting on matters like this. In theory, OOTPD could sue if the agreement was broken.

In many years of looking at essentially all of the OOTP rosters ever publicly released, Gambo and Doc are the only other roster makers I can recall who ever made roster sets that I liked pretty much the way they were right out of the box.

If you're playing pre-1947 American baseball, then the All-American Mod (a namefiles/ethnicites/nation/cities file pack) is for you.

If you want an idea of how the rosters will be, download Cubby's set. It's his that are being used in v10.

Anyone think an accurate roster set would drastically change the fictional:historical:real breakdown for preferred gameplay? I know I would jump from fictional to real in a heartbeat with an accurate roster set...

If by 'accurate' you mean it got the ratings — particularly defensive ratings — right, I'd try it in a heartbeat. If by 'accurate' you mean that it had all the rosters right, as of a particular date, down to Rookie League, then I wouldn't be much interested.

I've played each way - fictional, historical, and real roster set. My favorite is historical, followed by fictional. I've tried a few of the real roster sets but have become frustrated with either the problems with prospect ratings or with missing prospects. And I just don't have the time to tackle modifying a roster set to my liking, although as Mal says I'm sure I could come up with something I'd be reasonably happy with.

I enjoy historical, mostly because I like the challenge of taking over a loser in real life and turning them into a winner. My most recent attempt was the 1984 Indians. I got fired after the first year, and was hired by the Brewers for 1985. Got fired after one season with them too, and went to the ChiSox, but had a problem with the draft class import and found that my backup was corrupt, so I just killed that one and started a new league managing the 1982 Rangers. We'll see...

What's your concept of "accurate"?

Well, I guess accurate to me personally would be like Curtis said, where the ratings are accurate and the rosters, including the minors, are fairly close.

There's really no such thing as a perfect roster set, so as long as the main players were there and the ratings were mostly accurate, I'd be in. Otherwise its back to Imaginary Baseball for me!

Accurate to me would be simple.

Get the contracts right, the bios (i.e. d.o.b., p.o.b, college etc) right and the stats right. I believe OOTP has an engine that can develop ratings based on stats right?

I am easy to please

I am always happy and impressed with those who obvious put thousands of hours into a single roster set. There is no such thing as a perfect roster set, not even in real life baseball :-)
