Historical Player Query

I have played board games and computer simulations. The baseball game I most enjoyed was the original Tony LaRussa game. It was generally pretty easy to create all star teams, play in existing parks, establish line-ups versus righties and lefties, etc. I am interested in managing all teams by reviewing stats every couple of weeks, computer time, and making adjustments as deemed necessary. For example, I would like to have a "2009" Toronto Blue Jays pitching staff that included Halladay, perhaps with 2008 real data, and the best of Jimmy Key and Dave Stieb. Ted Williams would play LF for the Boston Red Sox. Will this be easily accomplished on OOTB 10? I have tried an earlier free download of OOTB, but it didn't give me a good handle on the historical importing element. I am not interested in drafting fictional players or developing minor league systems. Just all star teams for existing franchises.

There are existing roster sets giving different people's ideas of what constitutes all time all star teams. I don't know if any of them would match your own idea on the subject. I also can't predict how long it will take modders to make them compatible with Version 10, but I can safely predict that some will be available within a fairly short time.

It's also possible to create your own, but I would have no idea how to do that. If you're going to create your own, my suggestion would be to wait until Version 10 is released in order to maximise compatibility. Not much is lost when converting versions, but there has been some small effect. (In my case it screwed up injury ratings, but nothing else that I can see.)

Yes, you can do this fairly easily. It's just a matter of importing the players you want and placing them on the teams you want. This has been an option for several versions of OOTP.

It's a bit of work but you can do it.
