Question from OOTP 2006 user

I hope this hasn't been asked recently. A quick search didn't reveal anything.

Anyways, I haven't played OOTP since the one labeled 2006. I really loved version 5 and went on to the next two or so updates.

I've been away for quite a while and was wondering how hard it would be to adjust to the new version, either 9 or 10 which comes out soon. I'm sure I could learn it but I just wanted some thoughts from long time simmers on the updates and such.

Thanks for the help,

It will be easy to adjust, if you are familiar with OOTP2006. Version 10 is a descendant of it. The last major overhaul was the move from v6/6.5 to 2006.

Ditto. If you played 2006, the adjustment to X won't be difficult.

Ok, good to hear. I just recently got back into OOTP and was curious. Now I'm excited for 10 to come out

In the interim, you could download the Demo of OOTP 9 and check that out. Would give you a good feel for X and get you refamiliarized.

The league I commish last used OOTP 6.5 and we shut things down for 2 years. We have restarted with OOTP 9 (with a plan to move to OOTP X) and even though I've been involved in leagues the last two years, many of the guys that have come back have been completely or almost completely out of the OOTP "loop." Version 9, for many of them, is the first version they've bought since they were either disappointed with OOTP 2006 and uninstalled it OR they simply never bought anything after OOTP 6.5.

There has been a learning curve as they catch up. Although there are hickups and a few things from 6.5 they wish we still had, they are picking up 2009 decently.

I wondered about that. I was one of the "defectors" myself. I might try the version 9 demo. Thanks again guys for the help.

I too have not played this game for the last couple of updates due to work and babies. I am now ready to get into it all over again and can't wait for the game to come out.
