Injury issues

This is another thread that's really more of a reminder to the beta testers, so I'm not really sure where to put it.

Injuries in OOTP are currently severely broken - in fact, this is one area where I believe there has been very serious regression since the pre-SI days. I know this isn't earth-shattering - there are plenty of threads here complaining about injuries.

There are obviously many areas which need attention, but I want to focus on something that hasn't gotten much discussion: the incorrect breakdown of injuries by position. A lot of people who've started injury-complaining threads have noted the problem at an anecdotal level, and I think even a cursory analysis will show just how serious this problem is.

For instance, right now, at this very moment, there are 69 players on the disabled list in the American League. That's 4.9 per team, but what's more interesting to me is that 24 of those players are position players (1.7 per team), and 45 are pitchers. This is not an atypical breakdown - in major league baseball, there are ALWAYS more pitchers than position players injured. Thus, for OOTP to be modeling real life correctly, we would expect, at a minimum, for the number of injured pitchers to equal the number of injured position players.

I've never seen this happen with OOTP9 with any league or any era. Currently, my 16-team solo league has 23 players on the DL. 20 are position players (which is actually a fairly realistic number per team), and THREE are pitchers. That's ridiculous.

I don't mind having a lot of injuries in my league - in fact, I rather like it, since there are a lot of injuries in real life. What I don't like is an injury model that looks like nothing that's ever taken place in any real baseball league anywhere on this earth.

Again, this is mostly just to remind the beta testers to please take a look at the number of injuries, not just by overall total, but also by position of the injured player. Thanks!
