Just had this show up.

"The catcher George sets his target...
Farmer fires...
ball four.
It spins away from George...
who goes to corral it...
before Enriquez can even think about...
turning that walk into a double.
Bill Farmer issues his 2nd walk.'

Turning a walk into a double? Batter was sent to 1st by the way.

Had to reread it a few times to make it make sense in my head. Thanks

OK, I've edited this text object for the sake of clarity:

ball four.
It spins away from Wilson...
as Heinsohn darts toward first.
Wilson hurries to corral the ball...
before Heinsohn can even think about...
turning that walk into a double.

Jacobs is on base, Aviles doubles to left field. Jacobs scores, so the throw home is cut off and then sent to third. The problem of course is that Jorge Posada, the catcher, was the one applying the tag on the throw to third base. It should be Ransom covering the base, not Posada. The catcher better not be leaving home with a potential play at the plate.

Also: '... St. Louis and Atlanta have agreed in principle to a swap that will see 27-year-old first baseman Chris Duncan become Braves...' that really should say 'become a Brave.' Don't know if you can get it to register the fact that a plural team name does not always have to get used.

See a few posts above. The man walked and it was a wild pitch so he took the extra base. Perfectly legal baseball play.

I'll BZ this problem. The text engine identifies Posada as the one who will receive the relay throw (if the ball is not cut off). When the ball is, in fact, cut off, the text engine needs to identify Ransom as the one who will receive the throw. Only Markus can fix it, I believe.

Got another one for ya.

Jacobs is up, hits a pitch and all I see is this:

After that, the game just went to the next batter and showed me there was one out. I went to check the last PBP to see if I blinked or something, and that is the screen shot posted above there.

I had to go to the log to see what happened:

The PBP never told me he was thrown out at third. It completely stopped, as seen above, once he was digging for second.

Fixed.
Thanks for posting it.

The Baseball News Network is reporting that Boston and New York have agreed in principle to a swap that will send (%string#1) to the Yankees with (%string#2) joining the Red Sox. Boston's general manager would not confirm the trade, but a team representative close to the negotiations said the deal is official and is now only awaiting approval from the league.

I had Brian Schneider on 1st with one out and I tried a sacrifice bunt with Johan Santana. It ended up a double play, no runners left on base. The play-by-play stated "they leave the bases loaded.":

In the inning summary it lists "3 left on base":

In Team LOB of the box score it added 3 extra runners left on.

Last out on the Bases

I just had a game where two runs scored on the last play but a runner was thrown out to end the game. The PBP's last few lines stated the final score without the two runs scored (i.e., my stated total was two runs too low). The box score and the game engine handled it fine (score correct) so this is just a PBP issue.

I think this is a Hard Code problem. Markus has to fix it.

I'll BZ it.

BZ #3168

I think I have seen this in previous versions.

Maybe pstrickert will know the answer for sure.

Thanks for posting.

You need to post this in the Tech Forum.

I'm sure they can help you there.

This thread is just for PBP and News Typos and Errors.
