Injury log, quick question - what would happen if you turned off all CEI-booleans and season-ending booleans in the injury file this year? I did something like that with v.9, and injuries were then for how long they were coded to be, as opposed to extending the injury to carry to the end of the year.

I'm still shaken up from when I lost Mark McGwire to a CEI after being HBP in an earlier version of the game. Blurred vision, iirc.

Not to mention the game has only been out for a day. I think the beta testers should release some of their data for the people who have only played through a small number of games.

I could see making a big stink about something hard-coded that only Markus can tinker with, but the game is literally in your hands now. When it comes to injuries, if you're not happy with them, take it upon yourself to fix it. It couldn't take more time to fix than waiting for someone else to do it.

cheers!
I think it says that Markus did a great job this year, the only complaint is injuries. Remember last year all the people who had to wait for patch to be able to play...

Anyone have a sense of whether or not injuries are related to use. That is, are more tired players more likely to get injured? Related to that, any feed back on the fatique modeling as a whole?

The SEI boolean is gone in OOTP-X. The game now always uses the durations in the injury file, and no longer just invents some random 'season-ending' injury length when it determines an injury should end a season. This is great news for customization - if, say, you don't want any injuries longer than six months, you can simply make sure that the max injury length is not greater than 180 for any injury in the file.

I now officially am upset with the injuries

Not on a game is not right level, but on a my season is over level.

You lose a guy who's 4-8 (I think; it's hard to read), and your season is over?

Sounds like my team.

Losing Lincecum must be hard.

I don't see all the CEIs you people describe. The most I've had in a season where two. Mark Buerhle tore his rotator cuff and kept getting delayed in recovery. The other was Gabe Kapler. He fractured his skull.

I'll name you two of the top of my head. Eric Hinske (not that he was ever great, ROY or no ROY) broke the hamate bone in his right wrist about 6 weeks into his sophomore campaign. "The Dude" was never the same. Lyle Overbay had his hand busted up real good with a pitch in 2007. He struggled the rest of that year and all of 2008 and is just now beginning to regain his 2006 form. That's two players in just one baseball market from 2003-2007ish who may not have been out for the amount of time you're talking about, but their bats went dead. Small sample size and I ain't doing the research tonight. Just google: MLB "hand injuries". It's ridiculous. Hand injuries are one of the worst injuries a hitter can get. It takes a lot longer to fully recover than it might appear (i.e. when the player returns to the lineup).

My problem isn't even that, it's that there are so many CEI's from it. Both guys you described came back less than a year later, as do most players. Very few players have CEI's anymore.
