Nicknames...
Sorry, I know this will be sacrilege to some, but is there a way to turn nicknames "off"? I just find too many nicknames for my personal taste. I don't see an "on/off" switch, so I wondered if maybe there was a file I could delete or something along those likes...
Personally, I'd like to see a setting like there is for beards ("X" percentage of players). |

In the "database" folder, there's a .txt called "nicknames". I'd image -- I haven't actually done it myself -- that if you clear all the text from that file and then save it, you will not see nicknames anymore.
I agree -- most of the nicknames that OOTP generates are rubbish and it assigns too many of them. Occasionally it stumbles on a gem, but I mostly prefer coming up with and allocating them myself. |

Yes, just open the file in a text editor and select all and delete all, and then save it as an empty text file and there will be no more nicknames generated.

I've also noticed that nicknames don't seem to be in the PbP anymore (neither at the beginning when the player is introduced or during the actual PbP - it was common in 9) and are now merely cosmetic.
Anyone want to tell me otherwise? |

I thought emptying out the nicknames.dat file only works for universes created *after* you make the edit.
