control of game

I am trying this game and I just play replays, series . So I just want to play the 71 sox vs 71 cubs in a 7 game series. I want control of the lineups. I see Chris Cannizzaro is not on Cubs roster. Is that because he came to club later in year? I just want FULL rosters and control of the rosters and then control over lineups/subs/relief of other team but not coaching decisions running/stealing. Is that possible? I also can't find anywhere to reset player usage/stats..

Thanks for any help guys

I am not sure about everything you want because I mostly mangage, but you can use commissioner mode which you can find in your manager options. It will let you mess with other teams depth charts and all sorts of things dealing with the league.

here is a list of some of the other things you can do in commissioner mode that might help you OOTP Baseball Manual - Other Commissioner Functions

Guess you can't. I want a delete stats button handy>see one nowhere, nothing in manual about deleting stats..

"and then I want control over lineups/subs/relief of other team but not coaching decisions running/stealing. Is that possible?"

Guess you can't there either...

Thought it was more like strat, action, dmb, dynasty.....gave it a shot...

After clicking on a game to manage it will take you to the Lineup & Starting Pitcher screen, from there you can choose 4 categories to control under game options there is offense, pitching, defense and substitution categories.

In the League Setup tab you can
1.Erase career stats of all players
2.Erase service time of all players
3.Erase "Your League" career stats of all players

Hope this helps

thanks for the try

The 71 cubs don't even have their no 1 catcher on the team.

I knew this was a fictional game mostly but heard the historical part was getting better... Its a pain.... I want COMPLETE control over ALL teams and full season rosters at once and control over the rosters control over the managers with a few clicks (IE dmb, action, strat ). Start a series in 2 minutes.

I like what the one poster said. Make this game two complete different entities. This can't do what I want it too...
I'm asking for a refund and will check back next year...

This game may never do what you want it to do. OOTP is a baseball simulation and will never play well as a replay, ie with transactions as real life. For replay it is best to play DMB or Action. OOTP will bring in the original rosters but then there are trades, injuries and such that make the game at this time "fictional".

OOTPB is a great game. However, it takes a lot of time and work to get it the way you want it.

I am willing to take that time and have a great league and a great game. I play in the Commissioner Mode so I can totally control all rosters and lineups. I created an All-Time All-Star League with each of the 16 original franchises. I researched the top 25 players for each of the franchises, then imported them from Baseball-Research database and adjusted the ratings, if needed. Then each season I would import the new rookies. It took a lot of time and work, but it was well worth it. Sadly, a virus wiped out my computer and I lost the league.

Stupidly, I did not keep back-up on an external storage disc or another computer.

But I do now. I spent a $130 for an external back-up source and it has been money well-spent. It recently saved another league that I have spent three years on.

Chris Cannizzaro is not in the 71 cubby roster, because he was traded to the cubs mid season. He started in SD in 71. But the solution to this is simple. Click the "Manager Options" button from the bar along the bottom, and turn on Commissioner Mode. Now that you can edit players, go to the Cannizzaro's Profile Page (Select SD from the team menu, then select "Rosters" from the tabs along the top, find Cannizzaro, and double click his name). The player editor is the final tab on the profile page (it's only activated if you are in commissioner mode). On this tab, you can change Cannizzaro to chicago.

As for lineup control of the other team WITHOUT taking full control of the team, I don't know... You can set up the 7-day lineups before the series starts, then change the option to not use alternates... But as for doing subs, you have to control the team during PbP to do this, afaik
