Batter of the year?
How does the game determine the batter of the year? The first line is the person who won it. The second is the one who won the batting title, but not the batter of the year. Ignore the HR numbers as it is from my 1908 season. I can't get the screenshots to upload so I will do it manually.
AB HT 2B 3B HR RN RBI BB K AVG SB/CS 594 173 16 6 6 68 62 62 44 .291 3/1 563 191 18 6 1 57 66 08 03 .339 14/21 The guy with the .339 average not only won the batting title for the entire major leagues, he did it in a cakewalk. The next person hit .315 So how did he not win batter of the year? Last edited by StyxNCa; 06-07-2009 at 08:25 PM. |

Yeah, that must be it. The first dude was just over 39, while my dude was just over 31. I guess my dude needs to strikeout a lot more to get the VORP up.
It's funny though. The 2nd guy is my SS. I drafted him with the 7th pick in the first round 2 seasons ago strictly for his glove. Super high ratings in all 4 categories and can play all 4 positions. My scout didn't think he'd be much better than average with the bat but I didn't care since I was so frustrated with my defense at 3rd I just wanted someone who could catch the freakin ball. I bought him up last season, even though my scout said he wasn't ready and he hit a .279 in 430 AB's while giving me an excellent defense, starting with 40 games at 3rd then I moved my SS to 2nd and moved this guy to SS and what that did for my pitchers was amazing. Anyhoo, seeing him hit .339 this season blew me away since I never expected that from him. Batting third no less and his clutch hitting was just the icing on the cake. He really came through when my cleanup hitting 2nd baseman (career league leader in runs & RBI's) went down for 3 weeks late in the season. |
