Defensive Ratings and Inflated BABIP

I started a season in 2009 using the default roster set and played the first season with the in-game rosters. Played with some of the league setup and during that changed the defensive ratings to be generated over a 3 year period.

The first season (2009) went fine, normal stats, etc, etc. Then, in the 2nd season, the defensive ratings for most of my players were down to 1 or 3 at positions in which they had an 15/18 during the previous season. My assumption was that by changing the rating settings to be calculated over a 3 year period, the math wasn't working correctly since I had only simmed one season. I then changed this to 1 year, but the player's defensive ratings didn't change. I then simmed a full month to see what the result would be and found the no pitcher of mine had a BABIP under .350 and one was as high as .425.

Has anyone seen this before and does anyone have idea how to fix??

Thanks.

The defensive rating change is meant to only be used with historical leagues so it has actual data to work off of. Using it to move into future seasons will give it absolutely no data to look at, causing everybody to suck.

I can't really answer that. I don't know if it will revert back to pre-recalc or if you're SOL with your current crop of players. Future players should definitely not have any defensive issues like this.
