Generate L/R Splits?

Hi,

When creating a historical league there is an option to Generate Random L/R Splits. In OOTP X, there is a new feature that is supposed to generate splits that make sense for pitchers based on their pitch selection. To use this new feature, do you generate random splits, or leave the option unchecked? It wasn't clear to me since the new feature isn't really random.

Thanks

Well I use it personally in historicals but Garlon says to not use it for historicals. Advice I choose to ignore. I also ignored the "don't marry her, she has already been married 5 times!" advice. Wish I hadn't.

If I don't generate I get pretty much the same lineups vs R and L pitchers and I don't like that. So I generate. That's just the way I roll!

Try it both ways and see what YOU like.

I have an uncle who got married three times. Each time, the woman cleaned him out ($) and left. He finally learned his lesson. Now he sits alone in his house on top of the hill and watches the world go by.

"the same lineups" -- I've noticed that, too. Is that how it's supposed to be?

Yup.

Yeah my exes cleaned me out too but it actually got me realizing I DIDN'T want to watch the world go by so I've been a traveling man ever since. Even bought a house/shack/hovel/hut in Ghana about 50 yards from the Atlantic ocean with nuthin between me and the ocean but a lot of white sand. I only go there though during the Ghana Fall and Winter when it's only 90 outside. I found I don't particularly like 140 in the shade and with no electricity for A/C most of the day things tend to melt, including me! The pace of life there is heavenly though.

My uncle is much the same... except he sits in his 3 room shack out by the rail yards and watches the world go by.

As for the lineups, wouldn't that make sense? If a guy hits equally well against righties and lefties then it's just who's the better hitter, there wouldn't be much need of a platoon split.

What happens is the GAME makes the player hit equally well against R and L. There is no platoon split.... ever.

It is as if everyone is righthanded and all the lefties have been dropped in a chasm at the bottom of the ocean.

Or maybe everyone becomes center handed.

All I know for sure is I don't like it. Must be the Casey Stengel / Earl Weaver in me.

I also liked the movie "Platoon" but was a bit disappointed it wasn't about baseball. I bet if Kevin Costner had been in it it would have been.

So if you use the option in OOTP 10, it generates the pitcher splits now based on their pitch selection instead of just randomly, correct?

If you don't use the option, the left and right splits are exactly the same?

Pitchers are a separate entity. A whirled unto themselves.

This checkbox generates R/L splits for batters and then the AI selects vsR/vsL lineups based on those splits.

OK, thanks. I didn't realize it just applied to the batters. I didn't want to prevent the game from generating hopefully more intelligent splits for the pitchers.

Thanks for your help.
