Turning off free agency?
If I remember correctly, in OOTP 9, turning off free agency could result in real problems, because the AI didn't know how to bargain with players to get lower salaries and it resigned them for exhorbitant amounts.
Does this problem exist in OOTP 10? I am thinking of starting a league without free agency and without a cash maximum in place. Otherwise I would let the game automatically update financial info starting in 1901. I don't know if that financial model will work though. |

Nothing has changed with regard to that option to turn free agency off. The financial system in OOTP has never been designed to work all that well with free agency turned off. I leave free agency on, but set it to 12 years for both majors and minors, with arbitration at 4 years. Bears no relationship to historical reality, but it does provide a balance between slave labor and paying players something like what they are worth.
