Are stolen bases affected by pitcher hold, catcher arm?

If I remember correctly, in OOTP 9, success rates on stolen bases were not affected by pitcher's holding ability or catcher's arm strength.

Has this been fixed?

I ask because in my first fictional season, the guy with a 12 arm threw out a much higher % than the guy with an 18 arm.

Also, I saw absolutely no correlation between holding ratings and stolen base % against my 4 starting pitchers. The guy with an 18 holding rating gave up the highest % of stolen bases and the guy with a low holding rate was the most successful at keeping runners honest.

I know it's a small sample size though. Anybody know whether holding rate and cather arm strength actually impact stolen bases?

A pitcher's hold rating might not affect success rate, but it decreases total attempts.

Okay, thanks, that's good news.

And the catcher's arm rating does not affect attempts, but does affect success.

I'm not sure about this. I had 2 catchers last year. One has an arm of 13 out of 20, the other has a 23 out of 20.

Catcher one played just over 900 innings and had 98 SB atts against him. Catcher 2 played just over 600 innings and had 5 SB atts against him. Both had the same pitchers. I'd be glad to put a screenshot up of them if needed.

Someone -- I think it was Ronco -- actually collected serious data on this, so that's what I am going by. My own observations seem to support his conclusions. However, IIRC, he did say that he found arm rating made a difference when it was over 20 (i.e., more than 200 on the 250 scale). So that seems consistent with what you found.

And this is why catcher #2 is my full time starter this year, especially since the Jan 1 adjustments turned this season into a heavy base stealing season. So far, in 48 innings, there have been 2 atts where catcher #1 had 5 in 17 innings.

Now, if people like Johnny Bench and Jerry Grote could import into a 1969 season with better than average arms it would be nice.
