Can We Get a Little More Widget Love, Please?

Lately, I've been simming game by game. Sometimes I sim week by week. The problem is that I don't feel like I have a central place I can go to to sim. What screen should I use? I like the schedule screen, because I can see upcoming opponents and past results. But I can't see standings or top performers or injury info or my lineup. The manager home screen is okay, but it's got a lot of links I don't really use, and I can't see my future schedule or the standings.

I love the idea of widgets on the broadcast screen. So why not have a screen where we can put together our own place to go for simming or whatever? Let's have a main interface widget screen! There is so much info you can gather in the game that's on different screens. If we had widgets for a custom screen, that means a lot less searching around.

Possible list of widgets:

*Calendar
*Standings
*Lineup
*Rotation
*Minor league system
*Monthly Splits
*Attendance
*Hot/Not
*News
*Transactions
*Links

Etc, etc.

And since we already have the idea of widgets in the broadcast screen, I don't see why this would be a huge undertaking for the main interface. Maybe something that could be included in a patch...?

Here's an example of what such a screen might be like. You might not choose these widgets or arrange them this way, but that's okay, because you can add, remove, drag and drop until you have something you like. And excuse my Photoshop skillz, as I have none. In fact, I used Paint. But you get the idea.

Thoughts?

I was thinking the same thing. As soon as I saw the widget page during the game I turned on all the widgets, set the game to the largest possible size and arranged everything to my liking. I usually have a league going where I manage all my games and it works great for that. But then I know a lot of people who like to play leagues over multiple seasons and sim every game. I usually get around to starting a league like this myself and a better screen for simming games would be ideal. Especially something like seeing your rotation and lineup accumulate stats as the season goes on. would be ideal. Currently you don't get too much informaiton about my team while simming unless. I was looking around for such a screen because it seemed like such an obvious idea after seeing the widgets.

this was the first thing I thought of when I heard about widgets for the game screen. I'd also love it if widget's could be customized a little, like maybe choosing which columns could appear, or even better if this was open for modders to create some widgets.

Now this would be awesome. If Markus could just give us the canvas, we can do the rest of the work. I love it.

I would settle for the built in widgets, if I had to though.

I really thought this would be a more popular idea. No one else is digging the idea of widgets in other places for the game?

For a while there were a lot of people who complained about the interface and how it takes too many clicks to get from one thing to another. Those complaints have died down quite a bit, but I think a custom screen like this completely eliminates those complaints.

I'm sure there will always be whiners out there, but it's hard to complain about an interface that you have a hand in designing.

I think this is an awesome idea. I have no idea how hard it would be to implement. But I would definitely dig this.

PS -- to get more responses, you should try naming the thread "Widgets for simmers." I think this will get a lot of support.
