Disable development in a historical league?

Do most of you disable player development in a historical league? That would seem to be the logical thing to do if if you use the recalculate function. Can anyone think of a reason to use player development in conjunction with recalculation? To me, they seem to be mutually exclusive events...

I always turned development off. I don't see where it would make sense to use it with recalc either.
