Skin Problem Fix?

Was looking at the various skins in-game, but noticed there was no background color in some of the drop down menus. Also when I switched back to black/red same thing, no background color. Downloaded the black/red skin and did a rebuild on the skin, but still no go. I'm able to play, but any ideas on how to fix this?

This issue has been logged in BZ for some time. I have no official word, yet, that it has been fixed. In my testing, only the Black skin has the rebuild issue with the expanded menus. As it does seem to be the primary skin, and the one shipped to default, I have also increased its priority to encourage it be included in the first patch.

That being said, I don't know if it will happen. The choices as they exist right now are don't rebuild the Black skin unless you live with that drawback in conjunction with any changes you've made, make those changes and use a different skin, or reinstall the game (or the original skin.bin) and hold off on your changes until it's resolved.

I'm sorry for the inconvenience. Trust me, I want it addressed as much as you do. Thanks for bringing it up and your patience while it waits to be fixed.

Fortunately I had saved a back up copy of my original skin.bin. Replaced the rebuilt with that. Problem solved.

No problem. I'm itching to get mood icons, default and tie photos, and more in there, but we're waiting it out. In fact, I'll be running more tests as we get closer to patch and hoping for good results.

DreamTeams, try this with the version you're currently using. I'm suspicious something's changed, but maybe it's methodology or voodoo. I managed to get mine to rebuild with no huge adjustment (other than a bit new version which includes the same files) except doing it a little different way. It's worth a try, if you're up for it, given you've had the same experience I've had along the way.

Go to your docs/ootp10/addons/downloads and delete any and all skin downloads previously downloaded. Those'll be the .tar files sitting there. Leave everything else alone. Install your game again right over your existing installation. Backup first of course.

Start your league, or start a small new test league of 8 teams or so, that's what I did. It defaults to black, naturally. Go to add-on central option and click download on each and every skin even if you don't plan to use any of the others except in an instance like we're about to do. One by one install them all. Once you've received the "has installed 2267 files or so" message for each skin, go to Preferences and change to Blue. Stay in the game.

Go to your Program Files/Data/Skins/ootpblack folder and take your changes with you, whether it's mood icons or whatever. Moods are easiest to deal with if you're using the mod. Replace the files you want to replace. Rename the skin.bin oldskin.bin and X out of the Program Files. Return to the game screen, having never exited the game.

Go back to Preferences and select the Black skin. Let it go through its rebuild until your screen returns to the black skin. Go to any Team from the dropdown and select its home page. Click on its Pitching tab. Click on the rotation order and see if the background has remained 'white' rather than transparent. If it has, go to Front Office and check out the dropdown for Team Focus to verify the same. Pull down a couple of filter tabs, etc.. just to make sure you're still seeing white. I hope you are at this point.

Now go check your player profile for the morale icons. Default player photo is a different animal because you have to put that in more than one place just like the tie pics. Let's see what you find out. I don't 'think' I missed anything in that recreation of my steps, but let's see what happens. It'll either work or it won't, but it'll provide the next step for me to check out. Oh, and cross your fingers, say a little prayer, and do a little chicken dance. Personally, I've printed out Andreas' avatar and I just stick pins in his shoes, but any ritual will work.
