Injury effects question

I have a question about how a serious injury effects a player's developement/decline and his chances of a setback.

Let's say that I edit down an injury. For example, let's say I take a player is injured for 5 months and it edit him to a 5 week injury. I am talking simply about editing the player himself, not the injury txt file.

Will the game then treat this as a 5 week injury in terms of the effect on his development/decline and chance of setback or will whatever files (if any) that affect that will already have it recorded as a 5 month injury?

Excellant question! I've just been assuming that the possible ratings hits would be based on the original injury, but this would be a really good thing to know.

Is there a ratings hit in this version? I know in the past I would get players back after a long injury and they played like they hadn't been gone a day.

According to those in the know, yes, but only for severe injuries, and not all of them. It would be great if editing a severe injury down prevented a ratings hit, but I'm guessing it wouldn't.

I'd like to see where you could send a player down to the minors for rehab. I don't know. Maybe you can do that now. I hadn't really checked to see if sending them down would help or not. In older versions there was no point since they hadn't lost anything that I ever noticed.

A couple of more questions--

1) About how long does an injury have to be before it is serious enough to affect ratings?

2) If you can negate some of the impact by lessenning the length, how soon does it need to be done? In other words, if it is lessened the day it happens, but before you advance to the next day, that would be the quickest it could be done. Would it have to be that quickly, is there some period where the player has been out a little while, but it still can be done?

If lowering the injury length can't lessen the impact, can such an option be added on a patch?

1) Injury Log, who knows more about this than anyone else, mentioned three months as the threshold for 'long' injuries, but that may be more of a throwaway number than a proclamation from on high, and a 'long' injury may not be the same thing as a 'severe' injury.

2) That's what I'm hoping to find out. It would make sense to me that if you caught it before the day advanced, you'd prevent the ratings damage, but I don't know.

3) You could try requesting that as a feature down in Tech Support. It's NOT a bug, since over a year of thought and debate has gone into the system behaving the way it does, so I'm guessing your answer would be 'no'.
