Using the Nationals, I have "worked" my way to the draft. As Stephen Strasburg is not in the draft class [
], I've narrowed it down to two draftees. (Ratings system: 1-20; Scouts Off) SP Doug Brady (Age: 21) Ratings: Stuff: 6/14 Movement: 12/15 Control: 5/19 Pitches: Sinker 10/15 Changeup 2/15 Splitter 8/9 Screwball 5/15 Stamina: 17 GB%: 66% Velocity: 94-96 mph ------------------------------------------------------ IF Oliver 'Cosmos' Lopez (Age: 17) Ratings: Contact 1/15 Gap 2/18 Power 2/17 Eye 1/13 Avoid K's 1/10 Defense: Range - 16 Error - 17 Arm - 15 Turn Double Play - 16 Other: Run Speed - 12 Steal - 8 Instincts - 2 Sac Bunt - 9 Bunt For Hit - 1 Hitter Type: Normal

If the choice comes down to a great pitcher or a great hitter, I always go with the great pitcher

It's like saying when you try to extrapolate the end of the universe, you say, if the universe is indeed infinite, then how - what does that mean? How far is all the way, and then if it stops, what's stopping it, and what's behind what's stopping it? So, what's the end, you know, is my question to you. |

If I wasnt based on my past OOTP history. I would say Brady.
However, I have almost NEVER had a first round pitcher EVER develop in OOTP. So, that would point to the SS. THough, generally even number 1 type college pitchers havent been that developed so, just maybe it would actually work this time. 2 points out of 3 go to the pitcher.

I've had bad luck w/ young players (particularly pitchers) not developing in previous versions of OOTP.
Do I need better coaching (I never pay much attention to minor league managers)? Do I need to track them fairly closely and adjust their innings pitched, etc., or can I just fire and forget, picking them up in a year or so? The pitcher is 21 and has no control (albeit w/ a 19 potential) ... is that a cause for concern? What age should he be, say, a 10/19 control and a 10/14 stuff? An update or two as Brady develops would be most welcome.

The SP is an easy choice here. He's further along in his development, which to me makes total development much more likely. And how often do SP of his caliber come along? He is an ace-in-waiting, after all.
