Strict Pitching Order

I know there was some talk about how the game should allow us to set a strict pitching order for all teams as some pitchers were seeing too many starts/innings. I set each MLB team to use a strict order (didn't even have to be in commish mode-strange!) and simmed a day. Every team kept the strict order in tact so it appears to work.

Would be nice if there was an option to do this automatically for all teams in all organizations.

Obviously it's your call but strict order can under utilize your top pitchers under certain circumstances. I like to skip my 5th starter when off-days come up.

I think you will find that after a few days, the AI will switch it back to highest rested. I don't think that is the way the 2009 game is supposed to be set, so I'm hoping this will be changed back to strict order when the game is patched. If not (or even if so) there's nothing you can do about it. It's one of those things that, so far, isn't customizable by the gamer.

Maybe we're talking about the same thing different ways but I find that strict order combined with 7-day lineups can get screwed up. You end up with pitchers making starts on two days rest etc. if there is an opposing pitcher handedness change. This is a bug IMO as strict order should never change.

I'd prefer that my teams SP not be combined with the 7-day lineup screen because if I forget to reset it the wrong pitcher gets the start.

We might be. I know some people are trying to change the 2009 MLB game to strict order for all the teams in the game (as commissioner). I just wanted the OP to know that this wasn't possible, if that's what he was attempting to do.

The 7-day lineup issue is a good one. But since you are only talking about the team that you manage, you have the ability to set your own team to highest rested. It's just that you can't make the AI use strict order, if it's been set to highest rested, or vice versa (at least, not so far in OOTP)
