Calling up minor league talent
I'm the Nationals playing as GM only. Kearns went down with a 1-2 week injury so I put him on the DL and brought up Justin Maxwell who has been playing great in AAA and has excellent ratings via my scout. We're not through 1 month of baseball yet but Maxwell is angry with his AAA roster spot and I wanted him to have a chance to prove something.
Well, my manager simply doesn't play him. He sits the bench as a third option behind Lastings Millledge in the OF. Through 2 games he has 1 appearance as a pinch runner. Now, I understand that Milledge isn't a bad young player himself, but usually in MLB when young talent is brought up on a short DL replacement stint, they get an opportunity to play fairly regularly. Otherwise, might as well leave him in AAA to develop and bring up a career backup player from AAA. There's no way for me to tell before bringing the player up and I can't really force the manager to start Maxwell, nor would I want to. I guess, it would be cool to either: a) Allow for you to hold a "meeting" with the manager to preview where this player would play if called up. b) The game handled young talent recently brought up from AAA more realistically by getting them at bats. |

It would be kinda cool to have more interaction with your manager, but FWIW you actually could "force start" young Mr. Maxwell if you so chose by right clicking on him and going to team startegy and selecting force start at position. I believe it would stick even though you're letting your manager run the show.

Have you adjusted your depth charts? Put him in the depth chart to start every 4th or 5th (or whatever you desire) game.
