Baseball universe.
I have a question for the Fictional players out there. How big of a universe do you build for your game? I am just wondering if I may be going overboard on a world I am setting up. MLB type league starting with 16 teams, full minors and 256 team college feeder league, and over the course of the next 100 years I am going to add 14 other leagues, some with minors and some without. Then in 2000 I was going to take control of a team and play.(I like to have history). I was wondering if anyone thinks this might be a bit overwhelming?

That depend on what you really want. Looks like you're starting small and expanding as you go. Lots of folks do that and report that they enjoy it.
I purposely keep my fictional league small for various reasons... 16 team major league and 24 team independent league. The main reasons I do this is so that I can get to know the players better and it's easier for me to control. But, that's my preference. Give your idea a try. You can always contract or change direction if you think it’s becoming too big. You could also make a copy of your initial configuration and save it so that you can return to the beginning if you need to. |

My first shot at a fictional league was MLB based, with thirty teams and 210 affiliates. That proved too large for me to handle well, so I downsized for my next attempt (twenty teams and one hundred affiliates).
The one I've been playing intermittantly for three years now has five parent leagues totalling 36 teams, three affiliate leagues totaling thirty, and a six team feeder. Honestly, that's probably still too big, since I just concentrate on one league of twelve teams plus two affiliate leagues totalling 24. I just let the rest exist in the background. But if Markus ever enables interleague (Asian Cup) competition, I'll start paying more attention to the others.
