Add a Pitch

Does anyone know if a pitcher gains the access to a 3rd pitch (or more) will I get an email or something? I know that in Baseball Mogul you would get a message that Pitcher A learned a curveball through his work with Pitcher B. Mogul was not great, but I liked that aspect. Do I get a heads up or do I need to stay vigilant with my roster?

It's a good idea but it doesn't currently happen. You'll just have to be vigilant. Maybe we can get something like this added in a patch or for version 11.

It wouldn't show up in a Player Development Report? That's kind of… bad.

Again, a good idea but doesn't currently happen. The player development report shows 4 categories. Overall, contact, power, eye or overall, stuff, movement, control. There is no room for individual pitches. The entire report would need to be redone.

Yes, it is. Kind of dumb, too.

I see. I haven't downloaded my copy of the game yet, so I didn't know how the report was set up.

My suggestion would be to add a small text box where the most recent important events for that player would be listed. What's an important event? Learning a pitch, learning a new position or improving noticably at a current one (from no rating to red, or red to orange, for example), converting to a new role, getting traded or released, getting promoted or demoted within the system, getting injured… Maybe it could list all of the changes in the past thirty days, or since the last day of the previous month.

In future versions it could include such things as moving from the bench into the lineup (not just as a fatigue sub), moving up in the rotation, moving from setup to closer, being moved to the middle or top of the order… When ITP2 comes out it could include player getting married, having a 'day', getting his number retired…

Of course those things would require that some discrimination be built into the selection filter. It shouldn't give you a new message every couple of days if your guy bats 8th against lefties and 4th against righties.

Now that is what I am talking about. I ask for a simple "did Joe learn the changeup yet?" and I get some real cool stuff. The History does some of this, but Curtis you have taken it to the next level. I really want to find out if my 19 year old that I have in the rotation will pay off and he has started to learn that mystical 3rd pitch. Thanks all for the input.

I don't know if it shows up in the development report or not, but I can't resist a chance to mention how much I absolutely abhor the new development report.

So, long story short, I really really really abhor the new development report.

In addition, it would be nice to be notified when a minor league player gets injured, now that we have minor league DL. For now I have the AI taking care of promotions and demotions, just so I don't have to scour all my minors every day looking for injuries!

Try shortlisting the minor leaguers you care about. You should get an email then.

You missed 9? It's exactly the same as last years.

Yeah. I can barely function without Getch's utility.

I think notification of new pitch is a great idea.

expanding on it, it would be very interesting to see the learning and development of pitches affected by pitching coaches and even grizzled veterans with high leadership.

baseball lore is filled with stories of pitchers flourishing after learning or improving a pitch from a teammate or coach. A whole lot of potential there.

Me too. I long for the old one, and the return of the transaction arrows.
