Hamstring pull ends career of 32-year old left-fielder

Probably the most bizarre report from the injury file. I don't have the log in front of me right this second but, it was a hamstring PULL...not even a tear. Log went on the say after seeing specialist, player was advised his career was over.

Anyone had a more unlikely injury event than that?

Unlikely? Impossible. DL Matters injury file. Its an improvement over the vanilla file.

Maybe the news report forgot to mention that he PULLed it completely off...

It's entirely possible.

Hamstring Injury, Hamstring Strain, Treatment and Rehabilitation

"A hamstring strain or a pulled hamstring as it is sometimes called is a tear in one or more of the hamstrings muscles."

"Severity of a Pulled Hamstring:

Strains are graded 1, 2 or 3 depending on severity. Grade 1 consists of minor tears within the muscle. A grade 2 is a partial tear in the muscle and grade 3 is a severe or complete rupture of the muscle."

I'd just pretend this is Eric Davis or Junior and say it is perpetual.

Well, no. Since there is a 'torn hamstring' in the injury db, the above injury would not have been a grade 3 hamstring tear.

I had a repetitive hamstring pull in college playing soccer and every game it seemed after I initially pulled it, I would play in, and at some point, re-pull the hamstring. Rest for a few days, it would feel fine---go out run around for a while, no issues...try and play a game---bam---re-pull it. Kept doing this for about 4 or 5 weeks until I went out, played and tried to change direction really quickly and heard what I can only describe as someone taking a big telephone book and tearing it in half. I then fell to the ground screaming as my hamstring cramped up really bad and I was laying in the grass face down, unable to get up or even really move. Partially tore my hamstring---was on crutches for a few weeks, made sure to rest until I was certain there were no more issues with it...took about 2 months or so until I really felt comfortable playing full speed and not worrying about re-injuring it...

My left leg got that cramp once when I tore my hamstring. The pain was so bad that I can't even describe it. The muscle cramped to where it was as solid as a block or iron. If you have any luck this will never happen to you.
