Mogul rosters importable to OOTP?

Hi, I've been playing Baseball Mogul 2009 and am wondering if there's any way to import those rosters into OOTP 10. I know it's a long-shot, but thought there might be some way through Excel or something.

Thanks!

No, I wouldn't think so. They are two entirely separate games. I don't think that the ratings would cross over directly. Sorry.

If you can get your Mogul rosters into Lahman Format, you can then import as a historical league in OOTP. But that would take a lot of work and I'm not sure if Mogul can export data into any kind of spreadsheet.

No, it can. It can create a tab delineated file which imports into Excel. It actually has quite a few fields to choose from (150-200) including the lahman ID. Which are the lahman fields?

It is possible to move a league from one game engine to another via the Lahman database import method. eMLB migrated from High Heat to OOTP 4 in this manner.

It takes a very long time.

It will take some time and effort, but it's not impossible and it can and has been done before.

The question you have to ask yourself is this: is the fun differential between that imported league and a new OOTP league sufficient to justify the time and effort you're going to have to expend? Only you can answer that question.

Good luck if you actually do it.

Good point. I'd have to take a look at the actual process. Does the OOTP user guide have a step-by-step or is this just something you do by feel? Also, does OOTP work with scanned jpgs or is it using its "faces" exclusively?

If the process is as simple as importing and exporting fields I think it is worth it if you've spent a year or two developing another league. Beyond that, I'd have to understand it more. There is a tipping point.

Anyways, hopefully the developers of the two games take users like me into consideration. If that process were made easier it would increase the odds that cross-game users would purchase their product.

No guide is provided. The practice is highly experimental.

You can use real pictures if you want if named properly.

The trouble is that you are one sale, and they are trying to make a living. Write Markus a large check, and you'll get your custom code.

That said, it has and can be done. It is a lot of work and a labor of love.

Something that both games ought to offer is export/import to and from a Lahman formatted database. That would make life a lot easier for everyone.

I agree. I don't see why it would be that big of a deal. It's just one of those things which would enhance the game's value. Users get bored of the same old features and want to move on to a new sim, but become somewhat attached to their babies; the stats are universal. Just sayin..

No argument from me. I think this kind of import/export should be standard.
