I may have overstated the problem -- which is basically the nations.txt file. I'm not sure exactly when it changed, but it has more fields than existed in previous versions. Right now, I don't have the OOTP9 version, so can't compare. In any event, modifying the nations.txt file is key to accomplishing much of what people want to do to get historically realistic ethnicities and names.

Here is the solution.
Go into the Ethnicities DB, and go to the U.S. Historical, which is the last one, make sure it is set up to your liking, I believe it is almost all white, with a small percentage for Hispanic. The ID is 39. Then create your Segregated United States, then have its Ethnicity #1 set to 39, and at 100 percent, then put the remaining four ethnicities to zero percent. Then I made the caucasion value 1000 and the rest zero. This creates a segregated league with old timer names. Here are my lines for the segregated US in the nations file 0229,The United States (S),U.S.A. (S),USA (S),American,4,5,39,100,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,1000,0,0 now i just have to go and start duplicating the cities so they show up in the new nation. it is all in the ethnicitiy values, if those are left alone, it will continue to generate hispanic characers and black characters with those names. By setting up the ethnicity to only allow the USA Historical, it will generate almost entirely white, using the names that are designated to be used with ethnicity number 39. I hope I made sense right there!

Here's the record I'm using from my nations.txt:
229,The U.S.,The U.S.,US2,American,4,5,39,100,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,1000, 0,0 However, the player faces from country 229 still use every type of design. |

I also made foreigner percentage 0%, and reloaded the game to make sure it read the correct db. I would say make sure your ethnicity db has a correct Historical US at ID 39. I don't believe I edited the ethnicity db, but I may have.

You have to modify your nations.txt, cities.txt, and ethnicities.txt first, then create your league. Once you push 'Create New League', it is too late. It won't change your races after creation. It should work then.

That would certainly be a lot easier. I hope you are right. I've never used that function. The cephasjames way is too tedious for my blood.

The problem I see with that button is that it doesnt look at the nations file. I guess one way to do it is to create a new ethnicity, have the US be entirely that ethnicity, then alter that ethnicity as time goes on, but then you also have to change the names as well. I am not sure how easy it would be to do that.

after doing some test, the issue I am running into now is getting the league to transition to the modern U.S. It still creates a draft class from the segregated U.S. and not adding in modern names and the like

Cras, you need to change out your database completely at the time of integration and then reimport several times when you load your league. You can test to see if its working or not by generating some free agents, checking their ethnicities, and then deleting them.

What exactly do you mean by that? Should I click the re-import db button? or do I need to delete some files so they are rebuilt? I am not sure what you are suggesting.

Delete all files in /database and replace them with the post-integration set. Then import and re-import them using the import button until the import actually takes. Test with free agents that you delete afterwards to make sure that the import has taken.

I understand. After reimporting, and increasing the forgeiner % I start seeing moden USA names, included players from the segregated USA, I imagine they are there because of the region being the same.

I deleted all the off topic posts (I believe).
Please refrain from starting this up once more. I will not spend time going through the thread like this again but will lock/warn. Thank you |

Yes, you need to switch it all out.

Malleus Dei,
How many times did you find yourself reloading the DB?

Sometimes three or four times before it took and would be saved.
