I was in a bad spot once because all my other pitchers were suffering from various levels of fatigue and I needed to get at least 5 or 6 innings out of my starter that day. Unfortunately he really sucked, and we were down 12-0 before he got a single person out, managing to give up a grand slam and a 3 run bomb in the process. He settled down and only allowed 3 more hits and no runs before I had to pull him in the middle of the 6th inning, but I was sick to my stomach watching that and knowing I could do nothing about it...

This isn't the worst shelling one of mine has taken, instead the worst I've shelled an opposing pitcher and a few of the following relievers.
Playing as the Giants in the first game of my season against the Brewers. Lincecum is starting for my Giants while Yovani Gallardo starting for the Brewers. Through the 2nd inning the score is 5-1 in favor of the Giants. Gallardo is taken out after that with the line score of 2.0IP 7H 5R(all earned) 0BB 2K and Wes Littleton is brought in. He gets through the third just fine, then the world ends for the Brewer's pen. They end up having to use 3 different pitchers to get out of the 4th. Littleton starts but can't get even 1 out in the 4th and gets blasted leaving with 1.0IP 3H 6R(all earned) and 4BB. Then they bring in Jorge Julio who is chased off after 0.2IP with 2H 4R(all earned) 2BB 1K and 1HR, being a grand slam. After that the Brewers pen manages to pitch the next 4.1 innings allowing only 4H and 1R(earned) giving up only 1BB and getting 1K between 3 different pitchers. Lincecum's line wasn't too fantastic either, he went 7.1IP with 7H 5R(all earned) 3BB 8K and 1HR. He was kicking ass at the plate though(for a pitcher). 3-3 3R 1RBI |

Well, in a 3 game series, one of the other teams relievers came in the first game gave up 5 runs without getting an out. In Game 3 he came back gave up 3 runs in 2/3 IP. I think he was happy to see us leave town.
![]() Note: Especially considering this was the first weekend of the season. His ERA not so good.

I do have a pitcher story where he just got hammered but I did have a guy pitch one pitch that was a ground out where he was injured after a 17 inning loss the day before.
needless to say I had about 4 innings of good bull pin arms rested, and needed them to pitch 8.2. it was not pretty and I pushed everyone past thier limits but I got threw it. it was quite interesting knowing that the guy is stuggling but he needs to get 2 more outs and he can rest. |

I cant really recall my worst shelling Ive had. I am usually protective of my SP's so Im sure Ive had a RP pitch an inning or 2 and give up 8-10 runs. Last edited by jbergey22; 06-18-2009 at 04:25 PM. |
