just noticed this.....there appears to be no waiting period before hall of fame eligibility. have prior versions been like this too?

yes. But you can set the HOF requirements high to where there are no automatic inducts and place them there yourself. I do this to as a way to emulate HOF's waiting period.

I got a letter from the govt, the other day, i opened and read it, it said they were suckers.

How do you sort through all of the players? Do you just go through them one by one? I mean is there an easy way to go through them by year of retirement or something that I don't know about?

In the past I've used Larry Anderson's HOF utility. However, it's not compatible fpr versions OOTP9 or OOTPX I believe. He is developing a utility that will be compatible with OOTPX. At this time I use my own criteria and select manually. It can be tedious though.

For fictional leagues I have always selected manually and done the 5 year rule. For MLB leagues however I let it automatically do it, because otherwise it takes too long to sort through.

As far as the HOF, I also induct players manually so as to avoid the obvious shortcomings of leaving the decisions up to the AI.

I usually keep an eye on the season and career leaderboards in the league history and look into the careers of various players from there.
