Pinch Hitters Striking Out

Has anyone who is using the MLB roster set and plays their games out had a problem with pinch hitters striking out too much?And I mean way too much like every time.

Are you seeing this, or are you asking because you've seen others posting about it?

PF;

I saw your note about this in beta, so I had a look at a league I'm running from the roster set and I think you're probably correct. Here's what I found from a 20 team setup (1 league, 10 teams plays w/DH the other league plays real baseball, also PH for Position Players set to very rarely) at approximately mid season.

24 players with at least 12 PH at bats. Of these 24, only 4 had K'd less than 50% of the time, which seems really high to me.

So, I built an identical fictional league with the only difference being the PH for Position Players set to Rarely. Some really interesting results here. At just past mid-season, each team with between 8 and 10 more games played than the league above.

59! players with at least 12 PH at bats. None of these had a K rate above 50%.

So, to me, it's obvious that something is up with PH'ing in the roster set, but what? I have no idea how something like this could be. Additionally I suppose, it's interesting to note how many more PH at bats resulted from the PH for Position Players setting.

The only pertinent info I have to offer on my specific roster set league would be that I, obviously, contracted 10 teams and did it some time before the gold release, FWIW.

Don't really know how much help this is except to possibly verify your concern. I'd be interested to hear from someone knowledgeable as to how this could possibly be happening though.

I'll try to watch more closely.. but I play out all my games and my pinch hitters seldom strikeout.. hit into groundball and pop outs.. yes they do that!

I have 3 main pinch hitters,Greg Dobbs,Eric Bruntlett,and Matt Stairs.Between the three of them,they've had 33 pinch hit at bats with 19 strikeouts and 4 hits(all singles). Now granted,the sample size is small,and these three guys are not exactly MVP candidates.But the K rate was high enough to put out a call to the masses to make sure everything was OK.I know from talking to various beta's that this is not an issue with historicals and fictionals.Other than that,its a head scratcher.

Matt Stairs- 0 for 12 9 K's
Eric Bruntlett-1 for 11 7 K's
Greg Dobbs-3 for 10 3 K's

I've definitely noticed some bad logic with regard to pinch hitters also while playing out my games. Good hitters are dreadful. Worse than my pitchers for 2 seasons now. So, I checked my league statistics with "pinch hitting" as a split. This is the result sorted by number of pinch hit at bats. My league settings are MLB default.

I will agree after looking closer there are way too many strikeouts of pinch hitters. Even really good hitters that would normally be starting suffer pretty bad.
