One thing I love about the new arbitration system
The new arbitration system makes things much more suspenseful as to how much money I'll have to pay. In the past it was very simple because it always ended up near the estimate. Now I've found myself trying to lock up secondary players like middle relievers because it allows for better financial planning going forward. I used to almost always not run the risk of locking up players until they were about to hit FA. Now I lock them up well beforehand in hopes that I will either save some cash or at least know definitely where I will need to trim some cash in the future.
This addition makes the game feel much more realistic. |

I'm more of a draft and trade guy who runs a small market team that rarely lets players hit FA, so I haven't experienced much with the new FA compensation system. But it is pretty obvious that it is a vast improvement over previous incarnations.
