Game won't proceed to the 10th season

I hope this is the proper forum for my question. I have simmed 9 fictional seasons with OOTP10, from January 1, 1870 through September 30, 1878. I am using a single 8-team league. As the game moves to October 1, 1878, and all the season-end calculation are made, it always crashes. I cannot get past September 30! Is there any fix to this problem?

I have a poor video card, but do have at least 30 free GB on my hard drive.

This may are may not be pertinent, but to start the game I downloaded the 1965 historical season, so I would have the stats I want. Then I changed the date to January 1, 1870, deleted all the players, created 160 fictional players, and began play by drafting from the pool.
